My fianc and I had the most wonderful time here. The rooms are beautiful and Lynn is an amazing host. The breakfast was great; the highlight for me was the homemade croissants. Even more importantly, the coffee is bold and flavorful. We would definitely come back.
Our second time staying here and just as good as we remembered. Such a great findlovely rooms and excellent hospitality.
This was our second time staying here and it was just as wonderful as the first visit that had us coming back for more! Lynn was a wonderful hostess, so friendly and accomodating, and provided a delicious homemade breakfast each morning with local eggs and fresh fruit. The rooms are beautifully decorated and incredibly cozy, and the location is peaceful and still close enough to town that you can enjoy a nice walk to Beacon's bustling Main Street, the Dia:Beacon modern art museum, or Mt. Beacon for hiking. The Chrystie House is a gorgeous place to stay with a perfect mix of romantic, historic charm and modern comforts.
Such a wonderful stay at Chrystie House! The rooms are gorgeous and extremely well-kept. The owner / manager was lovely and she made homemade quiche and croissants for breakfast.
We will definitely come back again!!
Chrystie House may have been one of the best stays Ive ever had, anywhere around the world, in my entire life. Aside from all that Beacon has to offer, Chrystie House is a stunning historical house full of history. The interior is also decorated BEAUTIFULLY with such amazing art and decor. Our room was just as fantastic, spacious, warm and clean. 10/10 on every level.
The real star of Chrystie House though is who hosts it, Lynn. A truly remarkable woman and fantastic person to talk to. Passionate about the house, the area, and all things wellness, she makes you feel right at home and offers so much to help you unwind and feel at ease. Whats more, the breakfast she prepares is all natural food, locally sourced and good for the body and soul. Lynn, I thank you for everything. Until the next time we can make it back to stay!
We had the loveliest stay here at Chrystie House. Our hostess Lynn was extremely kind, welcoming, and so knowledgeable about the house's history and the area in general! Our room was very clean and had beautiful views of the river, the bed was super comfortable and we had an amazing restful and peaceful night. Another highlight was Lynn's breakfast, consisting of fresh fruit, homemade croissants and quiches made from local ingredients. They were truly so delicious! We can't wait to come back for a longer stay.
We stayed for one night but would definitely come back again!
Lynn has been very friendly from the first moment we arrived. She showed us around the house, our room and then recommended us some places for dinner. We picked one of her recommendations and it was delicious! (Brothers Trattoria)
The house is beautifully decorated, with paintings made by the owner, furniture that looks out of a museum, a piano, and a wall full of books!
The room was cosy, warm and comfortable.
The breakfast was a nice start of the day, with a delicious homemade quiche.
I think staying at Chrystie House was the best choice to have a history-infused experience of Beacon!
And we were very lucky to come at a time when Lynns son was rehearsing on the piano - it was the most beautiful piano concert weve ever experienced!
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chrystie House. The entire house is beautifully decorated and maintained. We loved all of the vintage and antique pieces throughout the house. We stayed in the Albert Chrystie room and the bed was super comfortable. Our hostess, Lynn, was attentive and caring. She made sure we were well taken care of and that we were having an enjoyable stay. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with fresh fruit salads, great coffee, and homemade croissants and quiches. The cherry on top of our stay was the nightly piano played by Lynn's son that can be heard all throughout the house and enjoyed in the parlor. It really felt like being transported back in time and was such a refreshing way to experience Beacon.
I booked this hotel so that I could propose to my (now!) fiance in the area. It really did not disappoint - Lin was so helpful, and the building is just beautiful. Its slightly out of town, but very manageable; we didnt have a car, and got Lyfts whenever we couldnt face the walk. We stayed in the Albert Chrystie Room and it was well worth it - maybe the best bath Ive ever had, and bed was fantastic. The owners very kindly organised us some champagne for the occasion, and chose really well. Breakfast was fantastic, with a wonderful scrambled eggs and great homemade French croissants. I cant recommend it enough! Beacons a fabulous place and, unless youre determined to stay on the high street, this is a brilliant location.
Yuan has really curated something special here. My girlfriend and I spent two nights here to celebrate our anniversary and couldnt have picked a better location. The rooms and service were truly amazing, and the house has a magical historical vibe. We will definitely be coming back!
The house is spectacular: beautiful, clean, quiet, with stunning art, design and bright light with stunning views of Beacon. The details in the tiles, the impressive paintings made by the host, Yuan, and the breakfast made by the other host Lee, were truly phenomenal. So great to stay with people who host with passion. I look forward to returning to Chrystie House Bed and Breakfast.
Our experience staying at the bed and breakfast was lovely! The staff were nice, welcoming and gave perfect recommendations of things to do! The home itself is a beautiful historic home and the staff were well informed about its history and were happy to share stories. I have already recommended this bed and breakfast to friends looking to get away from NYC!
Chrystie House was a beautiful and tranquil place to stay while my sister and I were visiting
Beacon. The art, the decor, and the ambiance overall was so lovely and I hope to revisit. It is also a short walk to Madam Brett Park which a beautiful easy hike, and a reasonable walk from Main St! If you're travelling up here from NYC and don't have a car, it's a convenient and lovely location to stay. The owner Lin was also so accommodating and kind!
Beautiful location. Every detail of the house is ornate and historic and it is beautifully kept up. Our room had a view of the Hudson and a really comfortable bed. Breakfast was a very pleasant experience with good coffee (a real bonus for me) and plenty of fresh fruit with freshly cooked eggs and a croissant. Art and art books are everywhere in the house (as the proprietor was a working professional artist), making for a nice vibe.
The stay here at Chrysties House was great! The house itself is full is gorgeous, with a rich historical past. The location itself is close to many popular trails that makes the trip worth it. The host was very sweet and accommodating, and prepared an excellent breakfast for us during our stay.
Stayed in the Master Bedroom for one night. The host Lynn was very sweet and accommodating. The bedroom and bathroom were well-heated and had a really chic/antique vibe. And super cozy. Ample parking, fresh breakfast, and an overall good weekend experience. Would love to visit again when slightly warmer in the fall or summer
My boyfriend and I had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary at Chrystie House. The space is beautiful, very well kept, and filled with gorgeous details and decor. Our hosts were always very attentive and incredibly friendly, and provided the most delicious breakfast for us every morning. The location is very convenient, about a 20 minute walk away from all of the things youd want to do (Main Street, Dia Museum etc.). All in all, we had a lovely stay and definitely plan on returning!
The place was beautiful and well kept. Its a manageable walk to and from town so Id def recommend staying here and exploring beacon main st or Dia. It snowed pretty heavily when we went and we were still able to walk those commutes. Our host Lynn was also super kind and accommodating. Would def come back.
There are just 4 rooms and we were in the Few room. It was simply lovely and the bed was very comfortable. There were paintings everywhere in the Inn by the owner!! The scrambled eggs and French croissant at breakfast both mornings were delicious. Lynn was a gracious hostess. And we had delightful conversations about the Inn and the area.
We were in Beacon to celebrate many family January birthdays and the fire was burning in the lovely living room when we returned on a very cold night. We stayed 2 nights and upon departure enjoyed the DIA museum and then lunch at the Creperie and had Turkish coffee there.
5 stars because we had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Our room and bathroom were clean, with a large bathtub. Our hostess was so welcoming and the breakfast and coffee were great both mornings. The house is so well maintained and decorated and Beacon was a fun town to explore. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I had a wonderful 2-night stay right after Thanksgiving. The house itself is beautiful/interesting/well restored, our room was spacious and comfortable (with the best hotel mattress we'd slept on in a long time), and the location is great: a short (like 4 min) drive to downtown Beacon and a great home base for excursions to Storm King, the FDR library, etc. We also very much enjoyed the breakfast both mornings of our stay (the quiches were different each day and delicious), and we found the owners/hosts to be friendly, welcoming, and very responsive (via email, etc.). Would highly recommend!
Lynn was an amazing host! She made us feel at home and provided everything we needed to stay comfortable at the B&B. The house and grounds are beautiful and we were glad we had the opportunity to be here!
Beautiful place! Loved having a birthday weekend here. The hosts were accommodating, the rooms comfortable and breakfast was tasty.
The location is about a mile from Beacons Main Street which is a pleasant walk if youre up for it, otherwise a car or uber might be better. Close to hiking trails and outdoor activities which was great for us trying to get out of the city.
We really enjoyed our stay at Chrystie house! The room was beautiful, bed was very comfortable and cozy, shower pressure was great! Lynn and her husband were very welcoming and taught us so much about the homes colonial history and preservation. Highly recommend go for a chance to escape the city and have a great nights sleep or spend a beautiful weekend in Beacon NY.
Chrystie House is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking to get out of New York City for a few days but dont want to go too far. The owners are very hospitable and make a very tasty breakfast! The house is historic and well decorated - the rooms are nice and comfortable as well. It is a short walk to the Main Street of Beacon where there are some great shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay at Chrystie House and plan to return soon!
A relaxing and comfortable b&b - the hosts are delightful, kind and generous. The accommodations quiet, clean, well heated and peaceful. The grounds calming, colorful, wooded and leafy. The proximity to Beacon walkable or driveable. The bathroom super clean, tons of hot water and comfortable. The experience unforgettable!
The Chrystie house is gorgeous, with everything you need for a weekend (or longer) stay. The rooms are well kept and true to their original colonial style, the breakfast each morning is delicious, and the hosts are very accommodating to make sure the stay is great. Its not on the main street of Beacon, but its not a long walk and it was nice to feel a real retreat from a city. Its also close to the Dia museum and hiking trails.
I spent the weekend here with friends and family. It was a great experience at the house and being close to hiking trails, food, art and entertainment. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to learn about history or stay at a homey bed and breakfast. I plan on coming back.
Beautiful bed and breakfastamazing hosts close to Main Street and gorgeous views/sunsets. Cant wait to go back.
We fell in love with Chrystie House!! We came in early November and it was so beautiful. The owners were so welcoming and kind. The rooms were clean and elegant, while still maintaining a historical feel. Breakfast was divineIm still thinking about the homemade quiche! I wish I couldve spent more time in this house because it was so cozy. Cant wait to come back!!
My best friend and I wanted a cozy, fall girls trip outside of the city, and Christie House was the perfect location!! The house as a whole was beautifully decorated, and we absolutely loved the adorable room we stayed in! The owners were so kind and made us feel at home. It only took us a few minutes to get into downtown beacon from Christie House and we fell in love with the cute shops and delicious restaurants. I cannot recommend this place enough and we hope to visit again one day!
My wife and I stayed here because our daughter lives in Beacon. Lynn is the nicest hostess. Great room and very nice breakfast in this beautiful historic home. Will definitely return.
A cute family-run B&B experience on the edge of Beacon, close to some gorgeous walking trails. Lynn is a sweetheart who bakes a mean quiche -- and her son is a tremendously talented pianist who, if youre lucky, will be delicately tinkering on the keys! A very pleasant spot for a weekend stay :)
Chrystie House is a wonderful place to stay in Beacon!! It's a bit off the beaten path from the main drag, which makes it feel much more like you're out in nature. The family who owns and operates it is so incredibly lovely - the husband is very warm and welcoming and every single piece of artwork in the place is done by him! So many styles and such talent - it was quite impressive! His wife takes care of the breakfast in the morning with delicious quiches, fresh baked croissants and fresh fruit and she was so sweet, lovely and kind. The room we stayed in - the master bedroom the Albert Chrystie room - was beautiful, pristine and so comfortable! The rain shower and bathtub were amazing and much needed after a long hike. We even got lucky and heard their son playing piano one afternoon - what a talented family! I highly recommend Chrystie house and would absolutely stay here again!
Wonderful getaway from NYC. The hosts are so accommodating and welcoming. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the sweet town of Beacon.
An amazing Bed and Breakfast experience - I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cute, romantic getaway or a solo weekend to reset. The owners are unbelievably sweet and do everything to make sure you have an amazing experience.
Breakfast every morning is coffee, fruit bowls, fresh quiche and croissants- absolutely delicious. Chrystie House is perfectly located in Beacon and its about a 20 min walk to both the DIA museum and the main street with all of the shops.
I have never written a review for anything until now because this place was that amazing- cannot wait to be back!
What a gorgeous place Christie House offers unforgettable scenery and the beautiful hospitality from hosts Lynn and Yuan. We loved starting a morning with a delicious breakfast, including warm quiche and fresh coffee, and were captivated by the amazing classic painting artwork painted by Yuan. We highly recommend staying here if youre planning a trip to Beacon. Its an ideal spot to experience the beauty of fall, but Im sure its stunning all year round. It was a perfect retreat for us, away from a business of the city life.
Had such a wonderful stay at Chrystie House - a beautiful historic home full of art and unique charm. Also an amazing breakfast and kind host! Would absolutely recommend to anyone planning a trip to Beacon. Felt like something right out of Gilmore girls
Chrystie House was so lovely! The host family is so kind and welcoming and the food was great. Rooms were so clean and nice. We had a great time. Will definitely be coming back!
The prettiest building Ive ever slept in. About a mile away from Dia Beacon and downtown Beacon. Gorgeous accommodations, beautiful art, really just a lovely place to go to sleep and wake up. Very comfy beds and pretty furniture everywhere. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.
Lovely home, lovely landscaping, and so much thought and care put into the experience and preservation of the area. We were so lucky to have the chance to spend a weekend here. The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Lin was an incredibly thoughtful and attentive host. Breakfast was tasty. The artwork, horticulture, and history of the home are enough to occupy your weekend alone. I wish we could have stayed longer and will be back again!
Had a lovely stay - thank you to the hosts for their kind hospitality and their efforts in maintaining the beautiful house and grounds. We stayed here for a weekend getaway and would not hesitate to recommend all of our friends do the same!
We traveled by train, so did not have a car with us. The street that the house is on does not have sidewalks, but it is a very low traffic street. We felt comfortable walking back and forth to town during the day, and Uber/Lyft were available pretty easily after dark.
House is beautiful and hosts are warm and welcoming. Our room was lovely and comfortable with a pretty view. Delicious breakfast was served. Fantastic artwork throughout the house.
We had a fantastic visit to the Beacon area. The inn is convenient to all of the major sights. Storm King. Dia. CIA. FDRs home. Monnewaska state park. The inn is beautiful and set on a quiet wooded street. The rooms are lovely and breakfast delicious. The host is helpful and mailed my hiking boots which I had left behind.
Such a wonderful experience staying at this bed and breakfast. Gorgeous housing with a rich history, close to town with a scenic view. The hosts were welcoming and generous, breakfast was delightful. 10/10, will go again.
The Chrystie house b&b is my favorite place to stay in Beacon. It is beautiful and very clean and quiet. The historic house itself is spacious and restored so well; the rooms have luxuriously high ceilings and are so nicely appointed with all kinds of thoughtful touches like robes. Its slightly off the beaten path in terms of location, but totally ideal if youre looking for a lush and quiet getaway (which is what I go for). Needless to say the service is excellent lovely breakfast included. The porch should be mentioned as a special feature, perfect for spending a contemplative morning! Ive stayed twice and definitely plan on returning.
Chrystie house was a lovely weekend stay and exactly what we were looking for. The inside is a mix of charming antique furniture and decor you expect in a B&B alongside some more modern Eastern art. The Albert Chrystie room was even larger than it seemed from the pictures and very nice.
Breakfast was delicious and Lyn was a wonderful host. We spent much of our time out in Beacon but also enjoyed a quiet few hours on the porch reading.
We would definitely return!
Really magnificent house thats beautifully maintained. Owner/host Lin was super gracious and welcoming. Our room was one of the most impressive B & B rooms we have ever had. Breakfast was tasty and filling. We will most definitely stay at here again if were in the area.
Ive heard about this bed and breakfast so I wanted to try it as a staycation and am I happy we did! They were so welcoming and friendly. The rooms were so clean and nice. If youre coming to Beacon you should definitely try this place and were super picky!
We had the most amazing time staying here with some of our best friends!
Had SUCH a lovely stay at the Chrystie House when we visited Beacon! Lynn was incredibly kind and accommodating during our stay. Me and my party had bought out all 4 rooms of the house for a wedding weekend, and Lynn was just so supportive in making sure our stay was the very best. She accommodated our gluten intolerance for breakfast every morning! The rooms were so cozy and spacious, too. You could tell a lot of love and care has been put into maintaining this historic landmark. I would highly recommend Chrystie House to anyone staying in Beacon! We will definitely be staying there next time we visit. :)
I loved the rich history of this inn and the beautiful historical details in the rooms. The hosts are so welcoming. They make you feel like family. I loved having breakfast outside. I wish we could have stayed longer!
We had a wonderful stay at Chrystie House! The rooms very clean, comfortable, and full of charm. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts each day - the fruit salad was delicious and the quiches were amazing! Lynn provided wonderful service and we felt very taken care of. I actually became engaged during our trip to Beacon and Lynn was kind enough to take photos of my fiance and I! We really appreciated the location of Chrystie House. It was only a 15 minute walk into town and there were so many great restaurants and bars to check out! I would definitely stay at Chrystie House again due to the hospitality, charm, and comfort. I think what could take Chrystie House to the next level would be some retouching of paint on the exterior of the house and a bit of landscaping around the patio/breakfast area. Thanks Lynn for an awesome stay!
Had such a lovely time at Chrystie House. Gorgeous space, super comfortable bed, amazing grounds. The hosts were very welcoming. Highly recommend staying here if youre visiting Beacon.
Gorgeous B&B within walking distance from the train station, Dia Beacon, and hiking trails. William Few room was spacious and super clean. Checkin/checkout was seamless and flexible, Lynn and her partner were great hosts.
Happy to have picked this B&B over other options in Beacon, it made the weekend trip a memorable and unique experience!
I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Chrystie House in Beacon, NY! Lynn and her husband are incredible hosts; warm, friendly, and genuinely hospitable. From the moment I called and arrived, I felt so well taken care of. The atmosphere at Chrystie House is incredibly peaceful and safe, making it the perfect getaway.
What makes this place even more special is its rich history. Chrystie House has welcomed notable figures such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Alexander Hamilton, and Thomas Edison over the years, adding to its unique charm. Lynn's husband is also an exceptional artist, with a fascinating background. He's worked with some of the biggest names in the industry and is actually the artist behind the iconic Barnum animal crackers boxes that we've all come to love.
If you're looking for a place with character, history, and amazing hosts, I highly recommend Chrystie House!
AUG 2024 ~ What a lovely stay at this historic gem! Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, surrounded by nature, Chrystie House offers comfort and solitude. My overnight stay as a solo traveler in the Henry Winthrop Sargent Room was lovely. The Lee Family are gracious hosts. Yuan (innkeeper and artist) will happily provide a long list of famous names who have visited this remarkable home. His wife Lynn provided a delicious breakfast on the patio. Their teenage son is a gifted classical pianist, and his afternoon playing only added to the elegant yet comfortable atmosphere. I sincerely hope to return and further explore the rich history in this area along the Hudson River!
The Chrystie House is a beautiful and spacious antique of a home situated on wonderful piece of property on a quiet street. The hosts were extremely attentive to any and all our needs and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. The house is beautifully decorated in period with exceptional furnishings that make one feel right at home. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts on the patio as well as having what I think was the most comfortable room in recent memory. I would highly recommend this B&B..
Loved our stay at Chrystie house. The hosts have restored the house with impeccable detail, and are most welcoming, eager to share this unique piece of American history. Perfect spot from which to explore Beacon.
Lovely place to stay for a weekend getaway. Its beautifully located and just a stone throw away from Dia and the centre of Beacon. Breakfast is delicious. The quiches we had were excellent. Summer prices are a tad high with no room servicing but wed come back again.
My wife Doreen and i had a most pleasant stay on our mini 4 day vacation. Lee is a wonderful conversationalist extremely knowledgeable of localBeacon history as well as American history and is an accomplished artist while Lynn his wife is most accommodating and wonderful cook.
They both made us feel at home and comfortable.
We highly recommend staying here!!
History, beauty and serenity are all yours with a visit to Chrystie House. Your host Lynn is gracious and welcoming. The home is both elegant and charming and the bedrooms spacious and well appointed,. Whether you enjoy your breakfast in the lovely dining room and partake on the patio and watch nature at it's loveliest, you will find yourself enchanted by the experience.
Loved our stay at Chrystie house. Lynn and Yuan have restored the house with impeccable detail, and are most welcoming hosts, eager to share this unique piece of American history. Perfect spot from which to explore Beacon.
If there is any place you need to zone out of the busy life its this one! When we went to stop by the front door to ask if there were any rooms left we were met by the owner, a lovely lady which was really helpful and very kind. We stayed here for two nights and got to learn so much about Beacon. The old house is very nice and has a very rich history, which she could tell us all about. The breakfast was outstanding, With homemade croissants and more! The morning is also very peaceful with squirrels, birds, chipmunks and much more wildlife to see in the garden that has incredible trees. The only negative things i could see was that you hear the train honk a little from time to time, which was not that big of a deal. For me as a tall man, the toilet was a bit small and the mattress was a bit to soft for my preference. But these things maybe wont make a difference for you. Apart from these very small negative points, this IS really THE place to be! If i could i would have wanted to stay for a week.
The husband and wife hosts/owners of this historic property are wonderful! Their passion for the history of the building and locale and their lovely, attentive service make this a most welcoming place. Our room was a comfortable, beautiful time traveling trip. All the modern comforts, but with all the historical charm.
I just finished a stay at the Chrystie House with my partner for a night and day away from the city and it exceeded our expectations.
The building and grounds are rich with history, which the owners are happy to share. Their stories brought the place to life and made the stay even more meaningful.
Even with rainy weather during the visit, the experience was incredibly relaxing. The property features one of the oldest ginkgo trees in North America, a sight worth seeing rain or shine. There are plenty of beautiful spaces both indoors and outdoors to unwind, whether you're exploring the grounds or settling in with one of the many books available in the rooms.
The welcoming atmosphere, beautiful setting, great breakfast, and proximity to town, make this place a standout. We're already looking forward to coming back in the winter to experience it all over again with expanded views and fireplaces. Highly recommend as an escape and for anyone looking to enjoy some peace, nature, and a bit of history.
Stayed for two nights in the William Few room. The room was clean and spacious, and a portable AC was provided as the weather was very hot. Because the house and wiring were historic, we tripped the breaker for our room by plugging in a phone charger. The host was quick to respond and get it fixed for us. The included breakfast was very good and the patio and grounds were beautiful.
We had a wonderful stay at this historic B & B. The hosts were very kind. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was homemade...quiche, fruit, warm croissant, coffee. I would definitely return.
Spent two lovely nights here for a family wedding nearby had an absolutely wonderful time. Brought my mom along, and we both found Chrystie House to be charming, comfortable, and conveniently located. Breakfast was sublime truly made with love and locally sourced ingredients (homemade quiche, including crust!) and the grounds and house were peaceful and a perfect respite from the city. My only regret is that we couldve stayed longer!
We had a relaxing, beautiful time at the Chrystie House! Ling was a super accommodating host and the house is beautifully restored. Gorgeous rooms and common areas, and lovely breakfast outside, what more could you ask for? Perfect for our quick stay in Beacon, and we cant wait to come back!
Interesting historic home, lovingly restored, in quiet neighborhood close to Beacons Main Street. Gracious hosts provided attentive hospitality and healthy breakfast. The House proved to be conveniently located as a base for visiting Storm King, Innisfree, Dia Beacon, and various nearby historic and natural sites.
This is a classy, old school B&B surrounded by four bucolic acres with views of the Hudson River. It is just one mile from DIA Beacon. We have stayed there four times over the last decade, and love it.
A true gem in Beacon! We truly enjoyed our stay at Chrystie House. From the moment we parked to the time we left we felt genuinely welcomed by the very gracious and extremely knowledgeable husband and wife owners/caretakers who lovingly restored the property and decorated with original art painted by the owner who is also a renown artist. This preserved home is an important piece of American history that is an integral part of the charm that gives Beacon its uniqueness.
We will definitely be back whenever we're in this part of the East Coast again to enjoy the warm hospitality and delicious breakfast again.
I spent a great weekend at the Chrystie house with my girlfriend. I loved the location. It was less than five minute drive to main street. The room was perfect and surprisingly large for such an old house. The hosts were extremely accommodating with delicious fresh fruit and making me an alternative breakfast that did not have eggs. What I loved the most was the history. The owners have obviously spent time learning the history and I could feel their passion when they discussed the history. Additionally, the house is gorgeously decorated in the host's original artwork with many high quality paintings on display. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Chrystie House. The room itself was stunning - such a wonderfully preserved piece of history. It was also incredibly clean. The best part, however, was Lynns hospitality. In addition to her warm welcome we loved her homemade quiche and croissants made from local ingredients.
Beautiful house with great hosts! We enjoyed our stay and would certainly come back on a return trip to Beacon.
We very much enjoyed staying at Christie House, an impeccably restored home in a beautiful park-like setting, conveniently located near downtown Beacon and close to all the museums and interesting sites in the Hudson Valley. The house also contains an amazing collection of the owners own paintings. The hosts are welcoming and knowledgeable, and provided a lovely breakfast each morning. Spacious, quiet room, comfortable bed. We hope to return!
I recently went to Chrystie House for a 3-day weekend with my girlfriend and it did not disappoint. Its a beautifully restored home from the 1800s with an incredible story behind it. While the house maintains all its 19th century charm and original details, some great modern renovations have been added. Our room (the CJ Slocum Room) had a small library with lots of interesting books, beautiful soaking tub and rain shower with great water pressure along with air conditioning. The grounds are also beautifully kept and we saw some wild turkeys, rabbits and other wild life.
The owner, Lynn, was really warm and made us feel more like we were guests in a close friends home who was really happy to have us rather than visiting for the first time. Lynn gave us some great recommendations, specifically for hiking and the trails located right nearby at Madam Brett State Park.
Beacon is a beautiful and friendly town only about 60 miles north of NYC, although it felt like we were much farther away. The town has a lively main street area with a ton of cute eateries, bars and shops, while also being in very close proximity to great hiking, beautiful waterfalls and wineries. We only had breakfast on one of the three days we stayed as we had brunch plans in town a couple of the days but it was delicious and fresh. There was a nice quiche made with local eggs, fruit, coffee, croissant and fresh juice. Overall, we had an amazing trip with the perfect combination of relaxation, nature and fun excursions. Id 100% recommend the Chrystie House to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing and memorable getaway in a charming B&B. Thanks Lynn!
I had a relaxing, quiet stay at the Chrystie House while stopping overnight on my way up the east coast of the United States.
The house is a beautiful, historic bed and breakfast located in a small town on the Hudson River. My room was quite large, had very a comfortable mattress and had an antique adjoining bathroom. The house is from the 1700's and has been beautifully maintained.
The inn is located on the outskirts of Beacon, NY and is a 2 minute drive to town. The town has a good selection of restaurants, bistros, bakeries, and coffee shops. There are many boutiques and shops to browse. For dinner, I found a family owned pub which had live music that evening.
The inn is on a very quiet street and I had a peaceful sleep that night. The following morning the inn keeper cooked a delicious quiche made from fresh eggs from the inn's hens along with a fresh medley fruit salad.
It was a wonderful stay and I highly recommend the Chrystie House for all those traveling along the Hudson River.
Lynn was so gracious, kind, generous and welcoming to me at the Chrystie house. Its absolutely beautiful and immaculately clean. I had the most delicious breakfast and an incredible sleep. I am so thankful and will 1000% be back! Look no further if youd like a quick getaway from the city , such a beautiful place to relax, rest and have the most delicious breakfast! I had quiche, a croissant and fresh fruit and coffee. The home is beautifully restored with care and respect to its original design and it meant so much to me they kept its tradition. There is also a beautiful grand piano in the living room! Not to mention the beautiful original art pieces displayed throughout the home. I cant say enough good things and recommended already to my family and friends. A perfect getaway ! Five stars all the way :)
Had the most lovely stay at Chrystie House, for a weekend trip from NYC via Metro North rail. The house itself is beautifully maintained and filled with unique treasures and historical details. The owners themselves have a fascinating story, and are truly dedicated to historical preservation. Chrystie House is a perfect stay to visit Beacon downtown, Dia Beacon, and Storm King Art Center. All were accessible via Uber, which were easy to call in Beacon (10-15min wait) with shorter wait times with Uber reserve. It was also no problem to walk to Beacon Main St. Thanks for making our Beacon trip so memorable!
We enjoyed a delightful night's stay at Chrystie House. The hosts were so welcoming, and the room so well appointed. Every comfort was provided for. The history of the house and grounds is fascinating, and we hope it will continue as a local landmark and treasure for decades to come. The current owners have painstakingly refurbished to historical home, down to matching the tiles in the bathroom. Please do yourself a favor and stay at lovely Christie House.
We had a lovely stay at Chrystie House. The house iss wonderful with a storied history that our hosts graciously shared. Breakfasts were excellent and we had a terrific and restful time in Beacon at Christie House. Highly recommend!
Chrystie House is an historical home and a lovely B&B. The owners are warm and generous and if you choose to - you can hear the fascinating history of the house & gardens. We stayed in the large Chrystie Room for 5 nights. Very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious - with eggs or quiche, large fresh fruit salad, croissants or toast and coffee/teas etc. There is beautiful original art by the owner in every room. The B&B is very well situated for site seeing other Hudson towns. We will definitely return when we visit Beacon again.
We were passing through NY and decided on a last minute stay at the Chrystie House B&B and thoroughly enjoyed our time there! The bed was super comfortable, the room was quiet and well supplied with an amazing breakfast!!! The fresh fruit was absolutely delicious as was the quiche and croissant!!! Everything was so tasty and kindly served by our hostess!! The owners were very friendly & welcoming and accommodating!! Beacon offered many restaurants to choose from and in the morning, we enjoyed a little park down by the Hudson River. What a beautiful historic home and town to explore!
Another fantastic stay at Chrystie House! One of my favorite places in Beacon. Thanks to Lynn for accommodating my need for a very early check-in time! Looking forward to staying again soon!
It's such a delight to spend time and Chrystie House, from learning about the (fascinating) history of the home and the area overlooking the Hudson River, to the owners' warm hospitality and great conversation, relaxing atmosphere, delicious food and comfortable beds. Would recommend anytime for a getaway or longer stay. And all this bliss is just a five-minute drive from downtown, walkable there and to Dia Beacon and the train station. The home is also the owner's restoration passion project and a great cause that could benefit from additional support from the broader community.
We recently stayed for a long weekend at this historic, lovingly renovated and beautifully maintained bed and breakfast, which is a very short drive to the center of Beacon. Stepping into this house is like stepping back in time, in America, Europe, and ancient China. There's something interesting to see everywhere you turn, including the talented owner's incredible paintings. Every room is immaculate yet relaxed and uncluttered. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and we enjoyed our fascinating conversations with them. As soon as we arrived, the hostess came out to help us, including my elderly mother, settle in and feel welcomed. We loved our spacious rooms and beautiful bathrooms with rainshower heads. We are looking forward to staying here again!
A stay at Chrystie House is a return to a bygone age, to the appreciation of classic beauty and elegant simplicity. The location is within walking distance of Metro North Commuter Railroad and downtown New York City an hour or so later. Beacon arts and antiques are also nearby as is DIA:Beacon museum. Dennings Point is close, too, with a fascinating history. House grounds are meticulously maintained and a respite from the hectic world most of us face daily. A walk there is rejuvenating and may cross paths with deer, wild turkeys, squirrels, cottontail rabbits, and countless bird species. It is a walk in the park minus the crowds and litter. The house itself was fully restored over a 3 year period beginning in 2007, revealing a view into comfortable living as it was 200 years ago. Now it is home to fine art and luxurious furnishings, a pleasure to behold. Complementary breakfasts are highest quality, the home made quiche in particular; all made from fresh ingredients, locally sourced. The people responsible for all this, the hosts of Chrystie House, are gracious, genuine people with no hidden agendas, whose motivation seems only to be the preservation and furtherance of beauty and honesty in whatever forms they present themselves. A visit to Chrystie House is to step into their environment, a rare treat these days and one that is becoming harder to find.
I loved staying at the Chrystie house!
Beyond the attentive, accommodating and sweet hosts making the stay wonderful was the unparalleled uniqueness of the estate and the way in which it has been curated by the owners.
As a big history lover, this home was the best expression of how to stay in the historic Hudson valley to me. The residence is an early 1800s estate once home to a founding father, among other notable faces in American history. The rooms are meticulously designed and furnished with antique furniture, comfortable linens, and truly excellent paintings (done by the host who is a former artist). Additionally, there are a myriad of scultures, old books and other touches to round out what is a truly one of a kind experience.
Id highly recommend to anyone looking for a differentiated, private and refined stay!
To Chrystie House,
What an amazing experience. The room was not only tidy, beautifully decorated and pristine, but offered an unusual sense of unexpected charm that was really a pleasant surprise. The view from the window of the river was a special treat in itself. My favorite thing to do was to wait for sunset or nightfall and the lights across the river from turning on. What a treat!
The breakfast quiche was also delicious and the staff courteous and easy to talk to. I will recommend Chrystie house to all my friends and family and wholeheartedly endorse the hotel for those who are planning a visit to Beacon.

Everything is lovely at the Chrystie House! Wonderful accomodations! Magnificent oil paintings of the highest quality adorn the walls and they are all the work of the current owner! His wife was my host, and she was incredibly kind, gracious, and knowledgeable about the history of the house and the local area. If you are as lucky as I was, you may even get to hear someone playing at the virtuoso-level on the beautiful grand piano in the very enchanting front parlor. Would easily recommend to anyone interested in history, art, and comfort.
It was our first time visiting Beacon (we live in Manhattan) and staying at the Chrystie House was absolutely perfect for our little weekend getaway. The stay made everything easy and was very enjoyable. All aspects of the charming bed and breakfast were top tier. From an awesome rain shower, to lovely sunlight coming into our cozy bedroom, and a homemade breakfast, the Chrystie House felt luxurious yet homey and relaxing. It is also a convenient location with plenty of parking. Lastly, the owners are friendly, polite, and attentive. Thank you for a great stay, we will definitely be back!

My partner and I were guests here for spring break and had the times of our lives! The hosts were so welcoming, accommodating, and comforting. Not only did they provide some of the best service we've ever had, but they provided great conversation and amazing stories. Getting the unique opportunity to learn more about the rich history of Beacon, this home, and the family that has taken on the responsibility of nurturing it was truly an honor.
Our room and bathroom was very clean and the bed was so soft, we slept in very late! Also, the breakfast was TO DIE FOR! Our first time having such a lovely meal after a semester of instant ramen and soda, haha.
We would strongly recommend a stay here for anyone who wants to be surrounded by history, culture, and genuine individuals with no goal but to ensure a happy stay for every guests. Finding people like these hosts is quite rare!
A hidden gem!
If youre coming to Beacon there is no better place to stay. The house is beautifully kept, (including beautiful paintings by the owner) the rooms are thoughtfully detailed, and the bed is extremely comfortable. Breakfast was delicious as well.
We had An absolutely wonderful stay here, the room was beautiful and the bath was amazing. the owners are totally lovely (ask them about the paintings) and in the morning they had some of the best homemade croissants I've ever had. absolutely recommend. really lovely place to get away to and super easy to get to from the metro north / Dia Beacon
Loved my stay here! The room was extremely cozy, bed soft, and soap and body wash in the bathroom were luxurious.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Lynn and she showed us around the space. The house was gorgeous. Would definitely stay here again in the future.
Yuan and Lynn have a beautiful B&B, filled with historic, original details like the Don Quixote tiles in our bathroom and original artwork by the owner. Our room was quiet and comfortable, breakfast was very good, and the experience overall was wonderful. We will absolutely stay here on our next trip to Beacon.

My adult daughter and I had such a wonderful stay at Chrystie House. It was the perfect compliment to the relaxing weekend we sought as a getaway from our busy New York City lives.
Its quiet location just minutes from both the town of Beacon and the Metro North Railroad was ideal. The dedication of the very gracious husband and wife hosts to preserve this historically significant house and renovate it so beautifully is truly a unique gift to their guests.
After a day of wandering, it was such a pleasure to return to its elegant period decor rooms, many displaying the interesting and impressive paintings done by the artist owner.
We loved the comfort of our spacious gracefully appointed bedroom, with cosy fireplace, spa robes in the adjoining classic period style bathroom and deep tub for relaxing.
And what it treat it was to start each morning with the delicious homemade breakfast enjoyed in the wonderful light of the tall windowed dining room.
With excellent hiking in Beacon, interesting nearby towns, and the warm welcoming feeling of a home base, I'm so happy to have found Chrystie House! I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
It's such a delight to spend time and Chrystie House, from learning about the (fascinating) history of the home and the area overlooking the Hudson River, to the owners' warm hospitality and great conversation, their son's sensitive piano playing, delicious food and comfortable beds. My partner and I visited for my 30th birthday and had a lovely time! The location is super close to shops, restaurants, and the museum. The space itself is stunning and the hosts were so friendly and welcoming. Id definitely like to visit again in the future.
This bed and breakfast exudes peace and tranquility. The distant view of the hudson is phenomenal, the old rooms carry grandeur, the hostess is caring and attentive. Truly an ideal place for walking, reading, writing and slowing down. I will definitely return one day!
This was a lovely place to stay in Dutchess County. Beacon, the town where Chrystie House is located has a lot going on and is close to many wonderful things to see and do in the Hudson Valley.
Having grown up near Beacon, it is always nice to visit this great part of New York State. What made my first visit to Chrystie House special was the kindness of the owners. They truly care about being hospitable inn keepers.
I am in the food business so of course I look for and pay attention to delicious things to eat everywhere I go. When you stay at Chrystie House, the quiche served during breakfast is A MUST. Ask about it. You will learn what I well-produced food item it is...
We had a lovely time at The Chrystie House for a getaway from the city. The hosts are wonderful people. We spent the evening reading in the main room while their son played piano for us. The breakfast was homemade and delicious. We will definitely be back.
My partner and I stayed here this weekend and had a lovely time! The owner was very hospitable and took the time to show us some of the unique characteristics of the room we stayed in. Our room was very comfortable and well-kept it felt more like a lived-in home than a museum despite the history of the property (which you can read about in the books in the sitting area). We also had a beautiful view of the property as it was snowing. The provided breakfast was delicious; the homemade croissants were better than most that I'd find in a local bakery. Would recommend.
We wanted to do a car-less weekend away from NYC and found this wonderful, warm, historic bed and breakfast perfect for us! The innkeepers were so helpful and lovely, from Yuanlis introduction to the history of Chrystie House to Lynns delicious breakfasts. The room (the Albert Chrystie Room) was huge and spotless, with a great view of the outside, a huge soft bed, and tons of heaters. Yuanli was very caring and showed us how everything worked in the room before we settled in. The house is a 15-20 minute walk to everything: Dia:Beacon, the train station, the main downtown area. We're looking forward to staying here again in the summer!
This place is a dream! A lovely, charming house with even lovelier hosts. Lynn attended to our every need and personally cooked us breakfast in the morning. The room was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and well appointed. I can't express the contentedness I felt snuggled up in the most comfortable bed with a fire crackling in the fireplace. A 5 minute drive from Main St., this was the perfect stay. I would return in a heartbeat.
This is an incredibly special place. I feel honored to have had the pleasure of staying here and look forward to returning.
My husband and I stayed here during a snowy weekend and it was absolutely lovely! The opportunity to stay in a historic home was a huge part of the appeal. The hosts were welcoming, very friendly, and have love for the house. Breakfast each morning included delicious homemade quiche made with locally sorced eggs. Chrystie House is only a few minutes from Dia Beacon and Main Street, so it was very easy to get around town. Overall a wonderful experience and hope to come back again!
The Chrystie House was a dream. Our host was extremely kind and welcoming. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast the next morning was a great touch and much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again! 10/10
A wonderful place to spend a getaway weekend. Our host was extra warm and welcoming. Rooms were clean and we had everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing especially the croissant! Would highly recommend staying here !
We had a perfect weekend at the Chrystie House! The room was excellent and the breakfast by Lynn was delicious. We especially appreciated that the house is decorated with beautiful original paintings by the owner. Loved it!
Truly an amazing experience. The breakfast was unreal! Will come back again.
We had a fantastic time at Chrystie House the house was beautiful and the service was fantastic. We look forward to going back soon!
I had a lovely stay at Chrystie House with my partner earlier this year. Lynn was a fantastic host and provided a lovely breakfast daily along with great conversation, and the lodging was absolutely beautiful. The house is wonderfully decorated with her husband's works, but the space itself and its proximity to main street is what really makes it such a gem. All the rooms have clearly been maintained with plenty of love, care and reverence for the history held within their walls. If you're on the fence, don't be!
My friends and I absolutely loved staying at Chrystie House! We visited Beacon to celebrate our friends birthday and stumbled upon this gem on line. Wow! The innkeepers were such lovely hosts. They made us feel so welcome and cared for while still giving us privacy. Chrystie House is an absolutely stunning 19th century mansion. The entire home and all its rooms are so beautiful and filled with stunning art and many treasures. We loved the Hudson Valley and especially Beacon. We I cant wait to return to the area and the beautiful Chrystie House.

The hosts Lynn and yuan are so sweet, this is the best place to stay in beacon! Such a special and unique stay in an incredible building filled with art and history. The hosts put so much thought into the place and the care they provide. Its an easy walk to town but feels very remote.
Beautiful home right in the middle of Beacon. Food, activities, hiking and shopping are all within a few minutes drive, or short walk, of Chrystie House. The rooms are unique and cozy, as is the shared living room space and the kitchen. The hosts are kind and give great advice about what to do in the surrounding area. Perfect for a weekend getaway.
Friendly hosts , clearly loved in the Beacon community. Got wonderful sleep quality and really excellent breakfast before leaving each day.Lush grounds . The rooms made us happy. On each future stay I want to try a different one. Spotlessly clean. It was like being a houseguest in a grand historical home. The flair of Cristie house added immensely to the pleasure of our time in Beacon.
Like many people, I use to do a lot of work in Manhattan but have found in recent years my usual go-to hotel became completely unaffordable, tripling in price while greatly declining in overall value. My needs have changed through the years but being a former employee of a well-known 5 star hotel chain (Ill give a hint Its initials are RC), a lot of my needs have stayed the same.
I still seek out a high bang for the buck ratio, savor my peace, quiet and comfort with the pursuit of excellence alongside genuine charm and soulfulness above all else. I abhor anything corporate, steering clear of it as best I can, pursuing the real, the unconceptualized, which isnt easy to do in this day and age. As anyone with the same viewpoint and taste can attest when it comes to places to stay, such places are getting harder, if not impossible, to find which makes them all the more thrilling when you discover them, like tiny nuggets of gold to be absolutely treasured.
I came across Chrystie House in Beacon, NY after an extremely long search for a small inn within easy access of NYC, where I wouldnt need a car and would be surrounded by greenery and tranquility. Other inns certainly have charm but are not within easy access of a train line. Many of them are also geared toward the popular wedding venue market which introduced a sort of loathsome Spring Break atmosphere, killing any sense of serenity I was pursuing. Many were also decorated with a sad sort of decor that one frequently comes across as such places: The endless bric brac, the tiresome, distracting tchotchkes. Not so at Chrystie House! This beautifully-appointed home has the calm atmosphere that can only come with an original Colonial house, the effect of which is simply restorative. In my gorgeously appointed room, my first night I fell asleep to a gentle patter of rain falling against the original sash windows as the sound of crickets beyond lulled me to sleep. Theres lots of natural light streaming in everywhere coupled with the overall feel that comes naturally with such a solidly-built, very old home. Our forefathers were certainly onto something with their admiration of Greek proportions and style! The sound of the slight creak when walking across the wood floors, the feel of the wood banister buffed smooth from generations of hands gliding over the railing while coming down the stairs, the years of well-maintained, genuine patina that never grows old for those that appreciate such things, the barely-there pale pink color of the walls in the welcoming breakfast room, made of real, original plaster. But its cozy too with many inviting places to linger over a cup of tea, listen to those evening crickets and their restful songs while watching the stars come out at night. The owners have a massive collection of art books (as well as many others) that they graciously offer to share during your stay. I could go on and on about the delights of Chrystie House, from the plushest towels you will ever use, to the best bed and mattresses you will ever encounter, the warmth of the rooms in Winter The owners have created a rare oasis of tranquility. I look forward to my next stay as I write.
A wonderful stay, a pleasure meeting our hosts. Looking forward to coming back soon!
Quaint and charming home with such lovely hosts! Beautifully restored property with tons of fascinating history. Excellent rooms, super clean and very comfortable. The hosts are great, mr and mrs Lee were so sweet and friendlyexcellent breakfast as well. 10/10 all the way! Definitely going to come back here.
We had stayed in Beacon, NY several times over the last 4 years and have enjoyed several attractions in town and short distances from it. The Chrystie House was the best of all our lodgings there. The historic house is wonderfully restored and includes a beautiful furniture collection and the artworks of one of the owners, a professional, well-known illustrator. The hillside overlooks the nearby Hudson River and was adjacent to the historic Wodenethe Gardens. We visited in December. A visit in the Spring, Summer or Fall, could utilize the large patio with ample, comfortable seating in this private setting. The breakfasts were bountiful and refreshing. We enjoyed our hosts, Yuan and Lynn, good and interesting folk, who deserve awards for preserving this rare, historic property.
A wonderful stay, a pleasure meeting our hosts. Looking forward to coming back soon!
Spent a really lovely night in the Henry Winthrop Sargent Room - amazing view and just a really great vibe. House is decorated with the owner's own paintings which are very eclectic in subject but all beautifully achieved. Each room has a different atmosphere. Owners are very knowledgeable about local history and have many amazing stories about the region. Very kind people and great and calming way to experience the area.
This place is amazing and so cute. The hosts are so sweet and the home is Beautiful! Would 100% come back again.
Terrific location, hosts, rooms and breakfast. Beautifully restored house and luxurious rooms. I highly recommend! Its an easy jump from NYC or anywhere in the greater Hudson Valley.
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our recent stay here. The location was excellent and just about a 20 minute walk from Dia and the main downtown. The house was beautiful and well maintained. We loved our room - it was super cozy and well furnished. And the breakfast was delicious and all homemade and local! Our hosts were so welcoming and warm. Wed definitely return for another visit!
We had a great stay. The house and gardens were gorgeous. Lynn was extremely welcoming and accommodating. Her complementary homemade quiches and croissants were delicious. Would absolutely stay there again!
Had a very pleasant time at the inn. Very welcoming host.
I had a wonderful stay at Chrystie House. The house itself is beautiful. It has a great feel and decor. My room -- the Henry Winthrop Sargent Room -- was cozy and the perfect respite from the winter weather. The location is excellent, as it's walking distance from both main street and the trailhead for Mount Beacon. And the hostess Lynn was an absolute delight. She prepared a top-notch breakfast in the morning, and her service was exceptional. Plus, she was just a very kind person. I whole-heartedly recommend!
Christie House is a very beautiful place. The breakfast is not only delicious but is sourced from local ingredients. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The historic house is surrounded by beautiful old oak trees. The atmosphere is peaceful and tranquil. The hosts are pleasant and helpful. Also very convenient to train and other transportation. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you are coming to the Hudson Valley.
Beautiful Home lovely grounds with a gracious host.
Delightful breakfast.
Will be back!
Chrystie House is a wonderful place to stay at when visiting Beacon, both our bedroom and the common areas were charming and beautifully decorated with the hosts own art The house is located at a convenient 15min stroll from Main Street, where all the cute cafes and shops are. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly, we loved to learn from them about the history of the house as well as things to do in the surroundings.
We had an enchanting time at the Chrystie House B&B. The house was beautiful overlooking the Hudson River. The room we stayed in was grand. Breakfast was scrumptious. And, we had the added benefit of a piano concerto by the Lee's son. He played beautiful classical music. We delayed our dinner plans to hear him each night.
It was a remarquable experience.
The house is charming and elegant.
The innkeepers were avalaible and very helpful.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious and generous.
Finally the rooms were impeccably clean.
Had a great experience staying at Chrystie House Bed and Breakfast. Highly recommend it!
(Translated by Google) Very nice house in a great, quiet environment. The room was nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. The breakfast was very good with coffee, croissants and quiche. Lynn is very committed to making the stay perfect and we were super satisfied. The area has a lot to offer, we took a short hike up Mt. Beacon, looked at the old hat factory (Mdm. Prett Park) and went to the Dia:Beacon museum, which is all within walking distance of Chrystie House. The accommodation is highly recommended!
(Original)
Sehr schnes Haus in toller ruhiger Umgebung.
Just minutes from bustling Main Street in Beacon if you want shopping and cozy cafes, and within reasonable driving distance of other towns as well as amazing hikes. The hosts are warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the area as well as their amazing house. Our room was large but still intimate and cozy, and the renovated early century bathroom was so cool! We loved soaking in the tub. Breakfast each morning was local, delicious, and made with love. We cant wait to come back!
Only a short drive away from the lively Main Street in Beacon, perfect for shopping and charming cafes.
Also conveniently located within a reasonable driving distance from other towns and fantastic hiking spots. The hosts are friendly, hospitable, and well-informed about both the area and their remarkable home.
Our room was spacious yet felt intimate and snug, and the recently renovated bathroom from the early 20th century was truly impressive! We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the bathtub. Every morning, we were treated to a delightful, locally-sourced breakfast prepared with genuine care.
Were eagerly anticipating our return visit!
An excellent experience overall.
Good communication before and during stay.
Comfortable room with wonderful bed and great shower/tub.
Excellent location mere minutes from Main Street and other attractions in town.
Delicious breakfast.
Bonus - Enjoyed hearing Chris (inn keepers son) virtuoso pianist perform while we were there early one evening.
Mr and Mrs Lee could not be more accomodating and sweet. If you want a geo political conversation...just be amazed how much Mr. Lee knows ! and his art work adorns the home as he is a professional artist. Beautiful . Many books to look at, old but interesting house. Breakfast was delicious. Place a challenge to find in the dark but we made it .
My husband and I had a wonderful two-night stay at the Chrystie House at the end of October to celebrate our first anniversary, and we cant wait to go back! We planned a double-date trip with my sister-in-law and her husband, and it was really fun being across the hall from them and having breakfast together. Lynn is a lovely, accommodating, and thoughtful host. I did not meet her husband but have heard great things from the couple we were with, as it was their second stay here (they stayed last year for their honeymoon!). The home is gorgeous and curated with incredible artwork by Lynns talented husband. We spent a lot of time on the porch drinking coffee and watching the colorful leaves fall. Downtown Beacon is only a 20 minute walk from the house and is one of our favorite towns to visit! Thank you, Lynn! We will definitely be back.
We had a great time staying at Chrystie House - excellent service, delicious home-made food and really quaint location!
I recently stayed at Chrystie house bed and breakfast nd it was fantastic. The food was delicious, the place was cozy, and the hosts were warm and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Looks like this will be the 200th review. Its hard not to repeat all the wonderful comments that preceded ours but here goes. Yuan and Lynn, the owners, have such a welcoming energy. My wife and I could feel how much they love this house, the history, and the natural wonder which surrounds it. It was infectious because we fell in love with the property too.
Our room was lovely, we slept so soundly it was hard to wake up for breakfast, but we were glad we did. Lynns homemade quiche is not to be missed!
Its also located close to town. A quick 20-minute walk for us, we did it several times. Or an even faster, inexpensive, Uber ride away.
We have friends who live in Beacon, so well be back to see themand our new friends Lynn and Yuan.
Really great experience at Chrystie House. Lynn is a fantastic host, breakfast every day was a delight and its easy to get into town if you have bikes or a car. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.
We recently stayed at Christie House. The proprietors are lovely people and very interesting to talk to. The house itself is beautifully restored and cared for. The grounds boast many gorgeous different trees. If you enjoy staying in an historic and lovely home with a delicious quiche breakfast, I would like to recommend Christie House in Beacon.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Chrystie House - our room was lovely (with the comfiest bed I've ever slept in!) and we had a beautiful view of the leaves changing colors all around the grounds. The location is perfect - super close to Beacon's downtown but set a little away from the main road so it's very quiet and peaceful. Also, the host Lynn is the best and makes delicious breakfasts. Perfect for a weekend getaway from the city, we can't wait to come back!
Stayed for two nights last week with my girlfriend . Wonderful experience and beautiful home . We enjoyed looking through the library of books in our room , the coziness , and the sound of crickets chirping in the evening . We plan on returning on our next hiking trip !!!
If you are looking for a memorable getaway in a unique setting with wonderful hosts, Chrystie House is a must. The historic mansion, painstakingly restored by Yuan and Lynn, is a treat all on its own. Yuans art fills the rooms, while Lynns art fills your appetite: her warm croissants, made-from-scratch quiche and fresh fruit are the perfect way to start your day. The house is surrounded by acres of lush greenery, giving you the feeling of being away from it all, yet Beacons bustling Main Street, with its interesting shops and restaurants, is a short drive away. The Hudson Valleys many attractions are also easily reached, and Yuan and Lynn are highly knowledgeable about the area. My wife and I have stayed at many historic B&Bs; our three-day stay in the Albert Chrystie Room is at the top of our list.
The Lees are wonderful hosts! We loved our room - Albert Chystie Room. Breakfast was delicious and served to meet our schedule. Location is convenient for exploring the area!
Chrystie House is the perfect weekend getaway, a short drive or train ride away from NYC. We were greeted by the friendliest and most accommodating hosts we have ever come across. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and were taken aback by the vast history that makes up the beautiful property. The location was optimal, given that it was less than a 5 minute drive from the charming downtown Main Street with many shops and restaurants, and only a 20 minute drive from the beautiful Fishkill Farms. Highly recommend this bed & breakfast, perfect for couples and solo travelers!
I'm so happy I was able to find such a great bnb, the location is a quick car ride from the Beacon train station or a nice walk in daytime to the main street, where all the shops and food spots are. The host Lynn and her family were so accommodating with delish breakfast every morning, beautiful music played on piano by her son, Lynn went above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and comfortable.
Must visit Beacon and stay at this amazing bed and breakfast!
Extraordinary historic house with spacious rooms revealing a private, quiet and peaceful ambiance. The owners have devoted years of fine restoration in bringing back the original 1800s style with all details included. The bountiful breakfast was served in the guest dining room overlooking colorful acreage of dense trees and foliage. Sleeping and bathing accommodation is a delightful experience in this hidden gem retreat.
I had the most incredible stay at Chrystie House. It truly is such an enchanting home nestled in the most beautiful part of Hudson Valley. I had the best sleep here Ive had in years, the owner is lovely and kind, the trees help you reset and rest. The nature is cleansing and the town is cozy. I felt like a NY naturalist and existentialist who had just met the Hudson for the first time and let nature fuel my creativity. I even finished my second poetry book shortly after this visit. Ill be coming here for the rest of my life.
Had such a wonderful stay at Chrystie House. The rooms are beautiful, just a walk away from the main street in town, and Lynn is the perfect host. She made us feel so welcome in Beacon. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a weekend getaway. Gorgeous!
Lovely B&B with warm, welcoming hosts. Great location for area attractions. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was yummy. Highly recommend.
friendly service!
cool and interesting art and decor in the rooms!
Not too far from the town!
we had a great time :)
I was in town for a friends wedding, and this gorgeous house was the perfect spot to stay for the weekend. Clean, historic, and beautiful.
Lynn was a very kind and gracious host! Definitely recommend!!
Lynn was very sweet! The service was excellent, and the rooms are super cute. The house has an antiquated charm, beautiful bannisters, and large ceilings, which was a refreshing change of pace from the city. I would highly recommend staying :)
Charming B&B dating back to the mid 1750s that has been lovingly restored by the sweetest couple (one of whom is the artist who designed the famous Barnum Animal Crackers box drawings and has many of his own works on the walls). Just 5 minutes from Beacon and a lovely place to spend the weekend!
Great hosts, beautiful home, and absolutely delicious breakfast!!!! I can't wait to stay here again! not to mention all of the art in the home is completely stunning!
We had a wonderful stay at the Christie house. The room had great character and the sunlight coming through made waking up there magical. The breakfast was also delicious! Walk into town was easy as well.
The Chrystie House is the best place to get away for a weekend. The owners care about their guests and it shows. The rooms are taken very good care of. The b&b itself is beautiful and in a great location!
Love Chrystie House! Very comfortable. Rich history. Great food. Hoses are so nice. We will always stay here when we are in the area.
Loved this place. Beautiful room and gracious hosts. Only thing I would reccomend is a sign letting us know that your are in the correct place. Great experience!
We had a very pleasant stay. It's a grand old house with spacious rooms and beautiful finishes. The fixtures are dated but functional. It's a bit out from the center, a small disadvantage, but very quiet. There's no sign, so it can be a little tricky to find, and the exterior maintenance could use a little attention. Inside, everything is spotless. The owner's artwork is a bonus. They are kind and gracious hosts and serve a delicious breakfast.
Great house and super beds plus Lynn made us feel at home right away. So nice to wake up to a delicious breakfast and excellent coffee. Thank you for a peaceful rest in an art-filled house.
Great experience. Lynn greeted me right away when I pulled up to her beautiful property. Inside was charming. My room was very clean and welcoming. Sitting in the backyard was magical, many different types of birds and a mother/baby deer grazing. And the breakfast served was delicious. I will be returning!
Highly recommend! My partner and I stayed at the Chrystie House for 3 nights. Our hosts were very friendly and attentive. If you have any questions or needs, they will respond right away. The breakfast at the Chrystie House, which included delicious home-made the croissant and quiche, was the best breakfast in Beacon. We stayed in the William Few room and it was spacious and comfortable. The B&B's surrounding is quiet and serene, but it is a 20-25 minute walk from the main street. If you have a car, it's a very short drive to all the places you'd want to go to. We will definitely stay at the Chrystie House again when we visit Beacon next time!
My fianc and I stayed at Chrystie House for our anniversary and it was everything we were hoping for and more! We immediately felt at ease and relaxed once we arrived, which was a nice change of pace from our lives in Brooklyn. Hostesses with the mostesses, delicious breakfast in the morning and our bed and room was so comfortable. We slept like babies! We will definitely be back. Thank you for our stay xoxo
Weve been here twice now and its a wonderful experience. Lynn and family does a great job.
Loved this cute little b&b in Beacon. My husband and I celebrated my birthday weekend here just this past weekend. We took the train from the city and loved the location convenience.
The owners are really sweet and friendly.
The house is the perfect balance of quaint/ historic character (old school furniture, floor to ceiling book shelves, fire place) but with all the creature comforts you would expect in a modern hotel room (tv, a/c, well maintained furnishings).
The breakfast was delicious and its so great that it was homemade with organic ingredients. We enjoyed it on the lovely patio.
Would definitely come back in other seasons and also recommend it to friends. Beacon has lots to do as well - scenic walks, a fun Main Street with restaurants and breweries, the dia museum and more!
We loved our stay at the Crystie House!
The property itself is beautiful and historic, all the rooms were very clean, and our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. We happened to pick a very hot weekend and the AC in our room was flawless in keeping things cool.
The owners are also extremely friendly and accommodating and the breakfast is lovely! Who doesnt love waking up to homemade quiche, fresh baked croissants and fresh fruit? The perfect way to start your day.
Nearby is the center part of Beacon which has plenty to do. This house is about a 20-minute walk to town or a very short drive. Nearby is Mount Beacon or Breakneck Ridge if you like to hike.
Highly recommend this spot! Its a perfect place to stay for a weekend in the Hudson Valley.
Great place! Charming mansion and lovely guest. And the ideal spot to visit the Hudson valley and the museums around
There is something so warm and pleasant about staying in a place like this, over a hotel or airbnb. It's a house with a fun history, gorgeous rooms with air conditioning, and it is operated by a couple that deeply cares about their guests and their experience. Not to mention the breakfast was delicious!
This is a wonderful home and an excellent place to stay for a weekend. The decor is artistry itself, casted on a canvas upon which the owners have seized the opportunity to marry history with the husband's personal paintings. This, paired with the delicious food offerings from the wife, makes for a memorable and quite tasteful experience.
We found Chrystie House while searching for an alternative to getting back to the city from a recent day trip to Beacon, since the train was shut down due to a terrible storm. Not only did Chrystie House accommodate to our last minute request, we were completely charmed upon arrival.
The rooms are tastefully decorated, large, and well-priced (considering the breakfast in the morning was so delightful). It was a perfect getaway I didn't know I needed. This is a place with so much character made only possible by the lovely family that runs it. Will definitely be returning!
We had the most wonderful stay at the Chrystie House! The host was so kind and welcoming. The house itself is gorgeous and kept in immaculate condition with so much historical charm and character. The location is ideal as well, very close to town yet slightly outside for some peace and quiet. The room was cozy and very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Trees and nature surround the house. Highly recommend for your trip to Beacon!
I found Chrystie House when searching for an alternative option to getting back to city, since the train was shut down due to a terrible storm. Not only did Chrystie House accommodate to my last minute request, I was swept off my feet by the charms of this place when I arrived!

Are you prepared for a treat? Come discover where art meets history in this wonderful secret, recessed, and nestled up in Beacon, NY. If the walls could talk you'd hear conversations from the major author of the Federalist Papers. Yes, Alexander Hamilton! I stayed in the CJ Slocum room and loved the desk in the room that I used to work on. The bathroom had some of the best pima cotton towels. The hospitality is warm and welcoming. Mr. Yuan Lee is extremely interesting and engaging to speak with, and his art is amazing. It gives the illusion of a 3-D painting. Ms. Yu Zhang is a great hostess.
This stunning home was built in the early 18th century. It is the precursor to the beautiful brownstones found in Brooklyn, NY. This is truly a gem and I look forward to my next stay here. I hope to try a different room the next time and hopefully, it will be on a weekend.
The only caution is to make sure you check-in at the designated time of 3pm so you'll have the opportunity to fully appreciate your full stay. The check-out time is pretty inflexible so keep this in mind.
We started off our Hudson Valley vacay at the Chrystie House and loved every minute! The house is full of art and our room was cozy yet grand. The breakfast Lynn puts on is amazing- delicious quiche, fruit, croissants... So good.
The house and host were amazing. I'm already planning my next visit.
Our two-night stay at the Chrystie House Bed and Breakfast in June was lovely! We chose it without knowing anything about the restoration or the amazing history of the house, but truly enjoyed learning all about it from Yuan. Lynn was a lovely host and made a great breakfast. We stayed in the Albert Chrystie Room which has the most beautifully restored bathroom (c. 1927)!
Easy to recommend. Courteous hosts, beautiful building, sizeable unique rooms. Wonderful breakfast.
This is the best bed and breakfast I have ever been to. The hosts are very friendly, the service is great. The location is convenient (close to the train station and Beacon:Dia). Plus, it has this amazing piano that I was allowed to play! Definitely will plan another trip in the future.
I came for a two-night solo stay at the Chrystie House to attend a nearby wedding. My stay was so enjoyable, and Lynn and Yuan were incredible hosts. The rooms are quaint, well appointed and beautifully restored. Yuan's art decorates the entire house and it is amazing to see! The breakfast from Lynn is delightful-- always say yes to the quiche and the fresh croissants. I am already planning my next visit to the Chrystie House.
Really good experience: the house is beautiful and charming and in a very convenient location, the rooms are very clean and full of nice details, the breakfast is excellent and generous, and the host is extremely nice and accommodating. Highly recommended to anybody looking for a place to stay in the area.
This place is a gem! The owners are so nice, and made us feel very welcome. The house is gorgeous, and the bedroom was amazing. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Couldnt ask for a better stay. Will definitely stay again.
The Chrystie House BnB is an amazing place. The room(s), hospitality and location are all amazing. The Lee family takes pride in providing great service. It is definitely a place to reset and unwind. Beautiful experience!
Had a lovely and relaxing stay at Chrystie House, welcomed by a sweet couple and surrounded by nature, art and history. The breakfast was 10/10. Definitely would recommend! All of wall art is the owners work.
We stayed at the Chrystie House for one night while on our way to a wedding in the Hudson Valley. It was a perfect spot for our overnight in Beacon. The house is grand and historic. The setting is beautiful and serene. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. Lynn makes a delicious filling breakfast and the coffee was as I like it. If Beacon is your destination make a reservation at the Chrystie House.
I highly recommend staying at the Chrystie house. The host, Lee is very friendly and accommodating. She also cooks amazing quiche! This is the perfect stay for a relaxing and romantic getaway from the city.
Had an amazing engagement/birthday weekend with my fiance at Chrystie House! The hosts were friendly and attentive enjoyed the continental breakfast in the morning, and getting to chat with the hosts about the house's history and the paintings decorating the house. We came up from Brooklyn on Metro-North, which worked well. Beacon is relatively walkable, so we were able to get to most of the hotspots (Mount Beacon hikes, DIA, downtown) without a car. Bed was comfortable and the linens clean. Would stay again!
I really enjoyed my stay here, it was the perfect way to get away from the city for a bit. Loved talking to the owners, they are very friendly and caring. The home itself is beautiful and calm, and nicely decorated with many interesting books. We stayed in the CJ Slocum room and it was very clean and comfortable.
We especially liked spending time on the patio and backyard. Breakfast was delicious and all homemade which we enjoyed very much. Looking forward to coming back some time!
The other deservedly 5-star reviews on Chrystie covered most, if not all, of what i cover below. I absolutely loved my stay at the Chrystie B&B - walking in, you are greeted by the most welcoming kind couple (Yuan and Yuling or Lynn) as they walk you through a very very elegant, chiq, history-filled house. Its been renovated so it feels super clean and fresh, while still maintaining the strong historic feel.
We stayed in the CJ slocum room, which had a beautiful view over the gardens and gorgeous Hudson valley treys. Each room has its private bathroom where you are pampered even better than some of the most luxurious hotels youve stayed in (think old Victorian rain shower, the most unique bathroom tiles, very thoughtfully placed spa items like creams and so). Outside the house are a bunch of chairs, lounge chairs, and tables where you can eat a meal or sunbathe and take in the beautiful stillness of Beacon & Hudson Valley nature. The house is of course non smoking, but I smoked outside just far from the house to avoid any smell going in, and there were no issues at all.
P.S. if you are a literature or art lover, you will FALL IN LOVE with your stay in this house. The rooms are filled to the brim with historical books (English, French, Arabic, chinese, etc) and novels that you can get lost in for days. The walls throughout the house are filled with gorgeous Hudson Valley-inspired paintings that one of the current home owners (Yuan) has painted all of. The owners son will often play piano in the sitting room downstairs which sounds beautiful, but the door is also closed incase any of the guests need to nap or so.
All in all - only good things to say about me and my girlfriends stay here. The house is beautiful and clean. Super accessible to the train station, Main St & the Roundhouse waterfall, and Dia Beacon. But at the same time nestled away enough that you really feel like youve gotten away from the city. The hosts will welcome you so much as well.
Our two-day stay at the Chrystie House was wonderful. The house is a gorgeous colonial house with lots of history, and the hosts (Yuan and Lynn) are both fantastic. All of their time and effort into running this place really shows the rooms are incredibly clean and very well-decorated! Yuan is extremely talented and has created the beautiful work on the walls, which was so nice to look at. Lynn is just the kindest person to speak with and she prepared the most delicious quiches for breakfast, served with fresh fruit and amazing fresh French croissants. All in all, a wonderful and very pleasant experience! Would absolutely recommend for anyone staying in this area.
The couple that runs thus b&b are the most wonderful hosts! Their home is beautiful, and each room is taken care of so wonderfully. They preserve the history and integrity of the house while still ensuring guests are incredibly comfortable.
The breakfast is fantastic! They have amazingly fresh fruit, and the hosts are wonderful to chat with while eating. The dining area is bright and spacious, with big windows that look on the grounds.
The art in the home, all painted by one of the owners himself, is stunning and worth a second look, as it's inspired by the area around the home and the greater Hudson Valley.
I cannot say enough good things about the Chrystie House! Run, don't walk, to book your room!
During the early part of the last century there were many Hudson River mansions that continue to draw visitors. Why not enjoy the ambience of one? The Chrystie House Bed and Breakfast, your best Beacon, New York B & B option since 2011, offers the ambience and comfort of those long ago days. Perched not far from the eastern shore of the Hudson River and yet only a 20 minute walk to Main Street Beacon (or only a half hour walk to the Mount Beacon trailhead) offers exactly that! Comfortable beds offer restful slumber in this 19th Century mansion with lovely relaxing grounds, perfect to enjoy your pre-dinner beverage where we saw deer ambling through the trees. Our hostess Lynn provided every comfort which included a lovely light breakfast which was perfect before our successful amble up and back Mount Beacon. Lingering late in the classic living room, surrounded by an extensive library and a Yamaha Grand Piano was the perfect restful preamble to our morning hike. Our only suggestion would be for perhaps a better marking to the entrance of the driveway leading to plenty of guest parking. Thank you for a lovely Beacon evening
Yuan and Lin are the most wonderful hosts! Their home is beautiful, and each room is taken care of so wonderfully. They preserve the history and integrity of the house while still ensuring guests are incredibly comfortable.
The breakfast is fantastic! Lin is an amazing cook, and she's wonderful to chat with while eating. The dining area is bright and spacious, with big windows that look on the grounds.
The art in the home, all painted by Yuan himself, is stunning and worth a second look, as it's inspired by the area around the home and the greater Hudson Valley.
I cannot say enough good things about the Chrystie House! Run, don't walk, to book your room!
The home was so beautiful and Chrystie was so nice and kind with full of hospitality. Highly recommended!
I highly recommend this magical hotel,
we spent Mother's day there, mother and daughter.
a homey atmosphere, beautiful rooms, clean, everything around is green with the sound of birds, the owner of the house is charming and warm-hearted, the breakfast is fresh and delicious, all the ingredients are fresh every day, the owner of the house picks and collects herself from the markets, the location is excellent 20 Minutes on foot from Main Street.
After a weekend stay with some of my closest friends, I cant wait to go back! Lynn was the best host and I cant say enough about how wonderful a stay this was. The home is beautiful and so clean. Each of the rooms have a private bath and the bedding was luxe and cozy. I highly recommend you stay at the Chrystie House if you need a place to stay in or near Beacon. I will certainly be back for another stay.
A beautiful stay and a historic bed and breakfast. The area is lovely and the house has an elegant and old world feel. I especially enjoyed having my own skeleton key to lock and unlock my room door. The room was beautiful, roomy, and comfortable. The natural light coming in the windows was magical and the views are pleasant. The tiles in the bathroom were especially a stand out and it was really nice to take a nice bath at the end of the day after exploring the Main Street of Beacon. The hosts are gracious and flexible, and provide a delightful breakfast for those staying. Would definitely recommend staying at Christie House and I look forward to returning on a future trip!
Lynn and Yuan are some of the most amazing hosts you will ever come across! The amount of care they put into this property shows on every level. Yuan truly cares about restoring and keeping the history of this house and has added his own touch with his own wonderful works of art around the interior. It was cool to learn he also did the art for the original Nabisco Animal Crackers! Lynn was super kind to talk to every morning and offered some of the most amazing croissants I've ever had for breakfast along with fantastic quiches and a lovely fruit bowl every day as well. On a side note, Lynn was also kind enough to offer some additional ayurvedic type options for a bad knee that I have.
As for the house, it was better than expected. We stayed in the William Few room which surprisingly came with a tempurpedic bed. The room itself was clean, well kept, large and full of books and artwork. The massive library room downstairs is also a beautiful space. The grounds themselves are nice to walk during the day and have nice views of the mountains in the distance. The place is also about a 5 minute drive from Main Street and Dia Beacon as additional perks.
My girlfriend and I would not hesitate to return here as our experience was stellar. Thank you to Lynn and Yuan and hope to see you again!
We very much enjoyed the tranquil setting and warm hospitality of the beautiful Christie House B&B. Breakfast is delicious and generous. The walk into town is very pleasant. Its also an easy walk to DIA and to the train station.
The restored 19th-century Chrystie House perches on a hill south of town, with a sunset view through the trees of the Hudson River. Over Easter weekend we stayed in the quirky "CJ Slocum" room, with its fireplace, quaint writing desk, shelves of books, and Don Quixote-themed wallpaper in the bathroom. Those who love old houses will be charmed by the creaking pipes and unexpected nooks. A breakfast of quiche, fruit, and croissants is served every morning by Ms Lee, the exuberant host. For those on foot, Main Street is a 20-minute walk through quiet residential streets, and the Dia Beacon museum is even closer. A perfect spot for a peaceful weekend getaway and we would definitely stay again.
The Chrystie House in Beacon, N.Y. is an Exceptional B&B
We stayed at the Chrystie House B&B in Beacon N.Y. three weeks ago and loved every minute of it. We have a passion for historic inns and B&Bs, and you simply can’t get any more historic and beautiful than the Chrystie House.
Originally built in 1821, the Chrystie House is a beautiful example of early, 19th century, Federal-style architecture. This place aches with history and colonial style. That history wraps its arms around you the minute you walk in the front door! You expect to see a colonial gentleman or lady waft through the room at any minute. The history of the house is stunning. It was built by William Few, signer of the US Constitution on behalf of the State of Georgia, then became a US Senator, and later he helmed the Manhattan Bank from Aaron Burr after Burr shot Hamilton. The house was relocated to higher ground in 1927 (by horse and carts) to where it is now, lovingly restored by the Lee family in 2007.
Our hostess, Mrs. Lee, was welcoming, charming, gracious, and determined to make you feel comfortable at every turn. The breakfast is extra-filling and carefully prepared. All of the rooms are immaculately clean. We had an evening seat by the roaring fireplace as their son played expertly on the grand piano across the main sitting room. The B&B is close to all the major, local attractions. It snowed on our second day there, and this made the house and grounds even more magical than the day before.
Our stay at the Chrystie House was a magnificent weekend in a throwback of time. Do yourself a treat and stay there if you’re nearby. Wonderful!
We had a lovely stay at Chrystie House! The grounds were beautiful and the room was clean and pretty. We enjoyed breakfast and Lynn was very sweet and attentive. We found it easy to Uber and/or walk to Beacons Main St, hiking, and the train station.
Had an amazing short trip up to Beacon. Very hospitable owners. Beautiful rooms and delicious breakfast. Couldnt ask for more!
This place is awesome! The historic house is beautiful. My wife and I stayed in the C.J. Slocum room, which might be the best corner of the house with views out over the Hudson River Valley. The room is comfortable and a bit quirky, just our thing. It is queit and has a great bed. There are fantastic books on extensive shelves (we spent an hour reading about orchids together). Breakfast was delicious. Lynn the owner is wonderful. Highly recommended and we will stay there again soon.
I fully enjoyed staying in this beautiful place. It was a much needed mid-winter break from city life, and as the trees were bare, my room had a nice view of the river. The location is a pleasant short walk to the center of town, and staying here had the benefits of quiet, peaceful surroundings and close proximity to some very nice trails. I expected to use a taxi or car service, but ended up choosing to walk everywhere, instead.
As stewards of this impressive historic house, the hosts have done a beautiful job of maintaining its history and authentic feel. They are lovely, friendly, helpful and generous in every way. I had an emergency around the time of my stay and needed some flexibility which went above and beyond my expectations. The hosts were so patient and kind, as well as accommodating (a special shoutout to Lin--she was amazing)!
The plentiful, tasty breakfasts and excellent coffee, served in the cozy dining room every morning were more than satisfying. I had everything I needed, but whenever I had a question they always responded in a timely manner and were eager to help. So, if you need something, just say something!
I really just can't say enough wonderful things about the Chrystie House B&B. Oh, well, as an added bonus, there is beautiful art everywhere! I can't wait to return and experience a different season at this welcoming inn.
This charming historic house is a very special place to stay. The owners of the B&B are passionate about preserving the history and character of the home, which shows in every detail. It is in a peaceful location with river views during winter when the trees are bare.
Incredible experience. The home was beautiful and the hosts were lovely. Best bnb experience Ive had. Cant wait to return.
Beautiful house with kind and attentive innkeepers! Peaceful and quiet location that is still very accessible to downtown Beacon.
Beautiful home with gorgeous art and decor. I've never stayed in such a beautiful room before: it had a lovely view and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts were lovely. It was the best escape from the city I could ask for and I can't wait to stay here again!
Lin was an amazing host. Breakfast was great, the art adorning the halls and rooms is beautiful and the house perfectly restored.
We stayed at Christie House over this past weekend and had the nicest time. The room was so cute and nicely kept and the Winthrop room had the best view of the river! The breakfast and coffee was super fresh, especially croissants they were amazing! It is helpful to have a car because the house is a little far from town but we didnt mind the walk. Highly recommend staying here for your time in Beacon.
My fianc and I stayed here for a cozy winter weekend, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The owners were beyond accommodating and kind to us, going out of their way to make us comfortable. The house itself was stunning, rooms were large, bed was comfortable and the breakfast was superb. We'll never stay anywhere else when we're in Beacon. Couldn't recommend Chrystie House more!!!
Just had an amazing stay here! The owner was so sweet and the breakfast was amazing! The room was really something special. This was a quick winter getaway from the city. Would love to come back and visit in the summertime.
Such a gem! Stayed in the Don Quixote room and it had such pleasant decor with the desk and the bookcase and the super fun bathroom. The highlights of the property for me was the paintings, the personal touches including the decor from China, and of course the Host. It was all above and beyond. We even had access to use the piano which really made the experience extra special. Thanks for a lovely mid-week getaway!
Staying here was an absolute treat. The kindness and thought the hosts put into their guests stay is unsurpassed. Truly a one of a kind experience.
This bed and breakfast deserves more than five stars for its old world charm and exquisite decor, and for the hospitality of its gracious hosts.
The house is massive, comfortable and beautifully appointed with the owners artwork adorning the walls. You feel a real sense of history around the space, with lots of bound books and ornate turn-of-the-century furniture. Lynn our hostess was very nice and accommodating in every way. She also makes the most scrumptious croissants that are included in the generous breakfast included in the fare.
Would highly recommend!
Really fantastic experience: the house is beautiful and charming and in a very convenient location, the rooms are very clean and full of nice details, the breakfast is excellent and generous, and the host is extremely nice and accommodating. Highly recommended to anybody looking for a place to stay in the area.
Just seeing the beautiful building is in itself worth a visit, the large and lovingly renovated rooms make for a very comfortable stay. The breakfast exceeded expectations and was delicious, the Lees are wonderful hosts. We visited in December and there was always a fire lit in one of the common areas, adding to the ambience. The elevated location of the house offers river views (in the winter) and is within walking distance of the Dia and town; in the summer, the large garden must be a perfect quiet place to dwell in the shade of large trees.
We had a lovely stay at the Chrystie House. The rooms are beautifully designed, spacious and clean, the building is beautiful and the surroundings are serene and quiet. The hostess was very friendly and made us a delicious breakfast. It is at a walking distance from the city center, the Dia Foundation and the train station. Will surely stay here again on my next trip to Beacon.
Our stay at Chrystie House could not have been more perfect and I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again. The room, hospitality, and breakfast were all superb. Fast wi-fi was a bonus!
We had a wonderful stay at the Chrystie House. This is a beautiful historic house and the owners were so friendly and accommodating. Location is great too. Would definitely come back if we visit the area again.
My wife and I stayed at the house for a second time and it was perfect again. Our hosts Lynn and Yuan were really accommodating to our needs. My wife is vegan and they went out of their way to make a delicious vegan breakfast. The rooms are very clean and tidy. The bed is very comfy and the linens were clean. The bathrooms were spacious and well stocked, even including comfy bath robes. There was complimentary wifi in the room as well as cable tv. The house is in a very beautiful location, quiet and private. Less than a five minute drive to Main Street. Highly recommend to stay at the Chrystie House.
Incredible historical property, warm and welcoming hosts, and delicious breakfast!
Just extraordinary experience overall! The host made me feel like the mansion is my home! Great great options of breakfast services and location to get to Main Street as well as other spots around beacon. 100/100!
We had a wonderful stay at Chrystie House Bed and Breakfast. The historic house is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is very good. It is a perfect place to stay for a visit to Beacon ! We highly recommend it and would love to come back ourselves.
I wish I could give more than 5 Our stay at Chrystie House was perfect. The location is beautiful: an evocative 1800 house surrounded by trees and nature. So spacious and full of light. The owners have made it even more pittoresque with tasteful decor and stunning art on the walls!! (The owner paints it himself and its stunning).
The room was clean, spacious and elegant, on top of having an extremely comfortable bed: both my boyfriend and I were impressed by how well we slept.
There was everything we needed and the owners were so helpful and kind, they made sure we felt welcome and at home.
The breakfast was delicious (we arrived very late and Mrs L. still gave us a full breakfast): freshly baked croissants and homemade quiche!
Outside, in the house property, theres a total of 48 different species of birds! The house is close to many hiking paths and just a few minutes drive to Maine Street and the station.
Definitely coming back
Couldn't recommend the Chrystie House enough! From the get go, Lynn was a compassionate, thorough and thoughtful host. She warmly welcomed us upon our arrival, giving us a tour of the grounds and BnB. The William Few room was clean and spacious, with plenty of storage and attention to detail (comfortable robes, plush towels, moisturizing toiletries). Every morning, Lynn greeted us in the dining room with a smile and a homemade breakfast of coffee, fresh orange juice, a warm croissant and a vegetable quiche--a very filling breakfast! We enjoyed our stay at the Chrystie House very, very much and look forward to returning.
The hosts run a lovely B &B. The grounds are amazing, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and they ensure the little things are there , like fluffy robes, and great closet/storage. Breakfast is great- the host makes great coffee, warm croissant, and quiche each morning. They are both warm and kind hosts. Mr. Lee is an illustrator and his art is all over - and fun fact, he illustrated the redesign of the classic animal crackers box! And we got to hear the owners son practicing for a piano competition ! ( An impromptu concert .)
All in all, its quite the labor of love they undertook to save this gem. Worth it.
This place is awesome! Super beautiful, historical property with the kindest host. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back. We stayed in the Albert Chrystie room and it's a large room with an amazingly comfortable bed and a nice large bathroom. The common areas are also very comfortable. I sat in the library one evening reading a book from their collection. We also sat on the porch drinking coffee, eating croissant and watching the gorgeous colored leaves
Strongly recommend! We don't drive so for New Yorkers without a car, this place is highly accessible. We walked to Dia Beacon, went hiking, walked to dinner on Main St, etc. All in, a fantastic weekend away from the city
(Translated by Google) Very nice house in a great quiet area. The room was nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. The breakfast was very good with coffee, croissant and quiche. Lynn is very committed to making the stay perfect and we were super satisfied. The area has a lot to offer, we did a little hike up Mt. Beacon, saw the old hat factory (Mdm. Prett Park) and went to the Dia:Beacon museum which is all within walking distance of Chrystie House. The accommodation is highly recommended!
(Original)
Sehr schnes Haus in toller ruhiger Umgebung.
Not for everyone, but wed give it six stars if we could. Hospitality and history in abundance. The owners are true American heroes for their work in restoring this hidden gem of a house - Beacon is lucky to have them.
We stayed at the Chrystie's house on August 4th. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. He greeted us in the beautiful garden, gave us a tour of the mansion and offered us advice on how to explore Beacon. Me and my friend were impressed by the artistic and historic value of the house, the painting works created and displayed by the owner, and the breakfast patio where you can literally have breakfast with a squirrel :). You should never miss this hidden gem in Beacon!
Beautiful house owned by a nice couple!
We had a lovely stay at Chrystie House. The rooms are nicely decorated and our room even had a full library of books, including many titles on art and history. The bathroom had hand-painted tiles from Spain and was unlike any other b&b weve stayed. They even accommodated our vegan diet and prepared an amazing homemade Chinese meal for us. Its very close to the Main Street but feels secluded and like a nice retreat from city life. The hosts are very personable and keep a beautiful home. The property also serves as a gallery for the owners paintings, which are really stunning. Overall, just such a nice place to getaway and relax.
The owners Mr and Mrs Lee were very attentive the moment we pulled up,carrying our bags to our room, starting a fire and enlightening us on the vast history of Beacon. The rooms were beautiful, neat ,clean and decorated with impeccable pieces of art created by Mr Lee.We will definitely return again and highly recommend the Christie house B&B.

A truly one of a kind experience - Yuan and his family were wonderful hosts and their home is an absolute treasure trove of books, antiques, and beautiful paintings done by Mr. Lee himself. The house has been restored so tastefully and I loved the hand painted tiles in the Don Quixote room! We will be back soon :)
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chrystie House, a beautifully restored home idyllically situated near Dia Beacon and the many shops/restaurants on Main Street. The house was filled with extraordinary paintings done by the owner who is an extremely talented artist. The rooms were lovely, spacious and clean. Ours had a bookcase and a luxurious bathroom with period tiles and ceramic bath. The breakfast, which came from a local eatery, was delicious and included quiche, croissants, muffins, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. We liked the dining setup where you could eat at individual tables or outside on the patio. Most importantly, the host was kind and gracious. We enjoyed talking over breakfast and hearing about the area, history of the house and many other stimulating topics. It was a privilege to stay here and Beacon should be grateful that this historic property has been preserved.
We loved staying at Chrystie House. Hosts are very welcoming and attentive, the house is beautiful and the bedroom was spacious, bright and very comfortable. The location was also perfect, far enough from the Main Street to enjoy absolute quietness, but still within walking distance or a 4-minute taxi ride away. Would absolutely recommend Chrystie House and will definitely go back!
My Mom and I loved staying at Chrystie House for two nights earlier this month. It was truly a perfect escape from NYC. The house is far enough away from Main Street to feel relaxed and suburban, but less than a five-minute drive, or a leisurely 15-20-minute walk to town. In addition to town, the house is also nearby tons of great hikes and other adventures.
Upon arrival, Yuan greeted us and carried our bags up to our room before we became engaged in a great conversation about Yann's artwork and career, the history of the house, the area, and the restoration process. We stayed in the smallest room, and it was plenty big for the two of us, was equip with an efficient air conditioner (we were there on some of the hottest days of the summer), and was clean. The home is beautifully restored - truly amazing. Breakfast was plentiful, healthful and delicious, and YuLing wonderfully provided a gluten free option without a reminder (I added a note when booking). My Mom and I had so many great conversations with both Yuan and YuLing, and their 9 year old son is adorable - quite the conversationalist and great at the piano. Yuan and YuLing offered great hospitality in a beautiful setting, and we are hoping to plan another visit soon!
I stayed at the Chrystie House for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I wanted a respite from NYC and found peace and quiet there. I spent as much time as possible sitting on their lovely porch and patio, soaking in the sounds of nature and fresh air.
The proprietors couldnt have been nicer, the breakfasts were delicious, and the inn was spotless. It was a delight staying there.
We loved staying here so much! The house is beautiful and full of history as well as incredible paintings made by the owner. The hosts were the absolute best hosts - extremely thoughtful and had great suggestions on places to go and places to eat in town. We will definitely be back
Great house built 1742 and restored by the owners. Decorated with period antiques and art done by the owner,Mr.Lee.The rooms were large with comfortable beds. The breakfasts were terrific.
Most important the owners , the Lee family, were exceptional and couldn't do enough. They took pictures of our daughter's wedding party and sent them to us.
Beacon is fortunate to have the Chrystie House.
Chrystie House is beautiful and historic and has been restored lovingly by the owners. The rooms are comfortable and welcoming. The owners are delightful and share much detail of the house and surrounding area. I would highly recommend a stay at Chrystie House in Beacon!
Love the Chrystie house!! Had such a great time and will certainly be back
Have you ever wondered what life was like a hundred years ago in US when visiting museums that converts from home? You can experience it here! This house is a historical one and the decoration is full of style and elegance. The landlord and lady are super friendly and helpful. If we ever revisit Beacon, a lovely town along Hudson River, we will definitely try to stay here again.
The Chrystie House was a fantastic experience. The service was incredible, we felt very welcomed, and the breakfast was perfect. Thank you for everything! We will be back next time we are in Beacon.
This place was better than we could have imagined. The house and area are absolutely gorgeous, and it is run by two of the friendliest people you will meet. And breakfast is delicious! Definitely worth every penny!!
We planned a last minute trip to Beacon and crossed our fingers that the Chrystie House would still have a room available for us. The house is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, but conveniently located in walking distance to Main Street, as well as to the nearby Dennings Point Trail! We had easy access to Beacon's offerings of good food, local shops and the Dia museum. The owners of Chrystie House are very welcoming and warm. The bed in the William Few room was incredibly comfortable, and the catered breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries and quiche kept us full for our hike up Mount Beacon.
My mom and I stayed here over a weekend last month and had a truly great experience. The hosts were so thoughtful, kind, and accommodating. The house was beautifully decorated with so many nice personal touches. Our room was very comfy and peaceful. They also gladly accommodated my breakfast to be vegan (and it was delicious!). On our check out date, they also allowed us to leave our luggage and leftover food until that afternoon while we continued exploring the area until our evening train ride back into NYC.
Highly recommend this B&B for the reasons above and also as Beacon is such a lovely town. My mom and I had a great time walking Main Street (eateries, shops, spa, farmers' market), visiting the Dia museum, and also venturing over into Cold Springs.
We had a wonderful time here, such a beatiful house in a quiet, peaceful, tree covered part of town.
We wanted a relaxed, romantic couple of days and Chrystie House and Yulien (sp?), the owner, were the perfect hosts for us.
As a couple who travel for months of the year, we are rarely as happy and impressed with accommodation as we were this week.
My husband along with two of my adult children and their spouses and my granddaughter all stayed at the Beautiful Historic Chrystie House for the weekend of our daughters wedding in Beacon. The Inn Keepers were so accommodating to us and made the special event even more rememberable by allowing us to gather as a family during this pandemic to celebrate together. We are very thankful for their kindness and generosity along with the delicious breakfast we received each morning while enjoying the local wildlife. Would definitely stay there again.
Yuling's B&B is fantastic. Surrounded by beautiful nature, the house is spacious and cozy. The rooms are very comfortable as well and well-decorated. We enjoyed a nice chat with Yuling, and her breakfast was delicious. I look forward to staying again!
We stayed at Chrystie House over the weekend and had a great time. It is very easy to bike from the train station. The house is very beautiful with such great details inside that is very rare to find in modern day hotels/bed and breakfast. Everyone that visits should take a moment to read about the history of the house. The owners have done a wonderful job at restoring and fighting to conserve an important piece of history and are very kind and interesting people. We will definitely visit again!
I stayed here for labor day weekend. Great place to enjoy the getaway. Close to Dia Beacon, Main St, waterfront park and hiking trails. The place itself is peaceful up on a little hill surrounded by trees. Super clean room, no dust under the bed. Breakfast is served outside, with social distance among each guest. What I liked the most was the library downstairs and the book collections in my room. You don't need wifi here, if you enjoy reading art and history. Vintage decor was definitely another charming point of this house. Such a time travel experience.
Last weekend I stayed one night at Chrystie House and I love it! The house is beautiful and full of history, in a quiet and peaceful neighboorhood, surrounded by trees. The owners are very nice people and very helpful. My room was very clean, roomy and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.
On my check out date, they also allowed me to leave my luggage until that afternoon while I was hiking at Dennings Point.
I definitely recommend Chrystie House Bed & Breakfast.
I spent a weekend at Chrysties house in Beacon in August, We enjoyed a peaceful time in the houses historic interior, so carefully preserved by the Owner and surrounded by more than 10 huge oak trees. It was a great environment for wonderful & peaceful sleep...I was especially impressed by the owners' hospitality and their healthy natural ways of living, their organic, farm-picked foods and magic spring water! It was such a pleasant surprise!
It is Close to Dia Beacon, Main St, waterfront park and hiking trails. The Fishkill Farm is with 15 minutes drive. We did peach picking and bought vegetables there for dinner.
The room was clean and the bed was made meticulously. Breakfast and dinner were delicious as well.
The entire weekend was special, and we look forward to visiting Chrysties house again.
I came with a group of friends for a one-night getaway from NYC. We had a wonderful time there. The house represents a very important part of American history. The owner carefully preserved the historic interior during the renovation. He's also an artist himself. So you'll see many beautiful paintings and interesting collectibles throughout the house. My room is very clean. The bathroom has the original tiles. The breakfast is very delicious. On the property, there are 10 big oak trees. We came during summer time, we were able to sit in the backyard during the day time enjoying the tranquility of the space without feeling the heat. There are many great trails nearby, some even within walking distance. It is close to Dia Beacon, the waterfront park, Main St. It is definitely a great getaway from NYC...to enjoy a moment of peace of mind during Covid-19. I highly recommend Chrystie's House.
The Christie House is such a beautiful house in Beacon! The hosts are super nice! We had wonderful two days stay there. The room we stayed was super clean and with everything we need. The bed is very comfortable. The owners are very nice and we made friends during stay. Highly recommended for a city getaway trip in Beacon!
The location is fantastic, walking distance from the train station, to which it takes a little over an hour from Manhattan; 5 minutes from the town, 10 minutes from an organic farm, and 10 minutes from the great hiking park.
It is a really charming and beautiful house with historic and cultural highlights throughout it. The owners are incredibly nice and generous with their time and advice. They arranged our trip to the local organic farm to pick organic fruits and vegetables, and they recommended all the interesting places to go as well as the best restaurant and ice cream shop of the town.
I stayed at CJ Slocum Room, which has beautiful views and beautiful interior decoration and furnishings. The best was very elegant and comfortable and the bathroom spotless. The dining room for our breakfast was large with ample delicious and organic foods. We couldn't have asked for anything more.
I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
A very nice place to stay . Very welcoming hosts. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Delicious generous breakfast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED when visiting Beacon.
My wife and I stayed at the Chrystie House for a two days during the fall. The inn is nestled into a beautiful lane walking distance from Beacons Main Street. Yuan and Yulings hospitality was lovely, the room was in beautiful order. My wife is vegan and Yuling made great accommodation cooking a breakfast main for her on the spot! I would recommend anyone visiting beacon to stay here, on all fronts you will not regret it.
I stayed with my girlfriend for 3 nights and had a phenomenal stay. The house is beautiful, and the owners are very sweet and attentive. The rooms were all very well kept, and period decorated, which made for a very charming environment.
During some of our conversations, they gave us a fascinating chronicle on the past history of the house and surrounding area. The included breakfast was delicious, and they were very accommodating of our later than normal breakfast schedule.
I would definitely recommend staying here!
Really great for a weekend getaway from the city, or wherever youre from. The proprietors live on premise and are very sweet. Id highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Beacon.
We had an excellent stay here!!! The house was beautiful and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. HIGHLY recommend! Location was perfect too
We loved our stay and Mr and Mrs Lee are fantastic hosts. The rooms were immaculately clean and the bathroom was especially a delight, with fully restored stone/marble bath tub and overhead shower head, turquoise tiles and heat lamp embedded in wall. The bed mattress is also deep and very comfortable. Breakfast is delicious with quiches made with local organic eggs and vegetables. It was also fascinating to learn about the history of the house. The house is decorated with beautiful paintings by the owner. A delight and one of the best hotel / B&B experiences weve had in Beacon thus far. We will be back!
We went to Chrysties this memorial day weekend. The weather wasnt great but we had an amazing experience at Chrystie House. The place was impeccable, clean and cozy. Breakfast was very good quality and filling. This is the perfect place to stay at if you are going to Dia Beacon too! Yuling was an extraordinary host. She made our stay unforgettable and reminded us of how important it is to have a hotel manager that actually cares about theirs guests.
Very clean spacious room decorated with owners museum quality art.
Very nice couple who owns it lovely breakfast outdoors deck made with local organic fruits and veggies.
Enjoyable experience!!
The Lees are gracious hosts who go out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. The William Few room was well appointed and very nicely decorated and spotless!! The common areas are airy and comfortable - love all the fireplaces in the home! We spent each evening on the patio with a glass of wine listening to the night sounds and the trains passing. Breakfasts are delicious and filling! Thank you! I hope we can come back soon.
Loved my stay in Chrystie House last week! We got in early so I messaged to see if I could check in early. They were super responsive and we were able to drop our bags off before our check in time. It is a 25-minute walk from train station to the house, and 15-20 minutes from house to the Main Street. Great host! Beautiful house surrounding with many huge oak trees. The room we stayed CJ room is very clean and the bed is so comfortable. The breakfast is extremely delicious (the owner used local organic food.) We definitely want to go back again.
Do yourself the favor of booking a stay here -- this is such a beautiful, interesting place for a nature getaway trip. My friend and I found the Henry Winthrop Sargent Room lovely (comfy bed, beautiful art by the owner, perfect temperature), but we also liked exploring the main room on the first floor. We enjoyed reading some of the many art and philosophy books, playing the piano, and sitting on the porch. The immediate surroundings of Chrystie House is hilly, quiet, and serene, whereas Main Street of town (20 minute walk away, or 7 using Andy's car service) is well-populated with quaint little shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. I'd recommend going to Denning's point about 20 minutes away in the other direction of town: a flat, calm, pretty nature walk that leads you to 2 good rocky beaches where you can swim in the very clean Hudson. Yuling is lovely to talk to; she made our trip wonderful.
My stay has been memorable thanks to the host's outstanding hospitality and extensive knowledge of history, art, and local area. Precautionary measures were taken when preparing food for the guests, eg.wearing gloves and masks. Do not be afraid of asking questions as the hosts are always eager to share they knowledge and experience with everyone. Also do not forget to try out the Beacon FREE Loop Bus because a) they're free, b) one of the stop is just 8 minutes of walk away. Will be back for sure!
We had an amazing stay here at the Chrystie House. Great people, food and accomodation!!
We had a wonderful time at the Chrystie House. The hosts were so kind despite us checking in rather late. My husband and I have absolutely no complaints and we've been talking up the place with our friends. The breakfast meals we had for both days were delicious, which included coffee, fruits, orange juice, quiche, and croissants (honestly best croissants we've both ever had). The room we stayed in has a lovely bath tub to soak in. During the day we drove to see the parks, Beacon:DIA museum, the downtown area which has many cute shops and amazing restaurants. The downtown area is no more than a 5 minute drive, so it was extremely convenient to go out and about. We can't wait to be back!
Came to beacon for a wedding and stayed at the Chrystie House. Hosts were very pleasant and informative. Yuan has a very in depth knowledge of the house as well as general knowledge of history. It was a pleasure to converse with him. Location is very convenient to Main Street and other tourist sites.
Beautiful comfortable house and friendly helpful service. Incredible artwork by owner artist. Delicious homemade breakfasts. Quiet serene setting. Had very relaxing stay.
Lynn was a excellent host. My boyfriend and I used this perfect bed and breakfast as a place to stay after a wedding in the area. It was a beautiful home- full of character and very romantic. Our room was spacious and comfortable and our included breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious. Lynn was super attentive and helpful and made sure that we were very comfortable.
We had a fantastic stay at Chrystie House! The property itself is gorgeous and the house was very comfortable and charming. The breakfast is also incredibly delicious! We were thrilled to have homemade croissants, quiches, and fresh fruit every morning of our stay. Well definitely come back!
Chrystie House is a wonderful B&B and one that I would highly recommend. We've stayed at several in the Hudson River Valley, and this one had the right combination of charm and comfort (the Tempurpedic mattress is what really did it for me). The setting is beautiful, and the location about 20 minutes' walk outside of downtown was good. We were seeking peace and quiet away from the city, and this did exactly that, even if it required a bit of planning ahead for certain logistics. The hosts Yuan and Lin were very hospitable and served a generous breakfast to boot! Would definitely visit again.
A wonderful B&B! Breakfast was delicious and we were lucky enough to be able to eat outside and look at the beautiful grounds. We spotted some deer!! The room was clean and comfortable, especially the bed. The owners were both so kind and lovely to talk to. Wed love to come back and will definitely recommend them to our friends and family. A great place to stay in Beacon.
This is a gracious Colonial era home beautiful refurbished by the Lee family. The grounds have majestic oaks and the stonework is impressive. Mr. Lee spoke about the history of the home and valley. He is a professional artist and his paintings adorn the home. Breakfast was delicious and served on the patio. I highly recommend this home.
Chrystie house is a peaceful retreat with rich history, wonderful accommodations, and a warm service. It even included a beautiful breakfast. I will definitely stay here again.
We LOVED staying in the Chrystie House!! Beautiful home, very clean, super-comfortable bed and shower, delicious breakfasts! We appreciated all of the gorgeous artwork throughout the house that were painted by Mr. Lee--so impressive! Mrs. Lee answered ALL of our questions about the history, the art, the surroundings...she was so patient with us! We definitely will be back!!
Highly recommend Chrystie House. Great central location for our sight seeing. Close to West Point, FDR presidential Library, Huguenot St., Washington's Headquarters. Close to great restaurants, The Vault is a great tapas restaurant. We stayed in the William Few room, very clean, comfy mattress. The whole house is beautiful and the hostess Mrs. Lee made us feel welcomed and at home. Would go back again!
A beautiful, restored 19th century colonial b&b on 4 acres in a quiet neighborhood in Beacon. A short distance from the train station, downtown, and Dia:Beacon museum. The owners are a couple that are very attentive to patrons needs. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed staying here! The house itself is absolutely beautiful and welcoming. Its in a great location tucked away and quiet from Beacons Main Street, but not too far away. The hosts are warm, sweet, extremely kind, and will make you a nice local breakfast. Highly recommend!
Very lovely and cozy place to stay. This is a historical house with awesome art decor. The hosts are very friendly and the breakfast is delicious! The location is also nice, quiet and not far from the riverside trails. Will come back if visiting Beacon again.
An absolutely amazing B&B!! We took the Henry Winthrop Sargent room and it was super clean, cozy and had everything we needed. The hosts were super nice and helpful. The living room has a great library with some really cool selections. We loved our stay so much that we were more inclined to stay at the B&B than go out to explore! We will be coming again for sure. I will recommend going especially during fall time because the trees and the scenery is breathtaking!
Shoutout to the hosts son who plays great piano, it felt like we were getting a free concert! :)
Had a nice experience in this beautiful, classic American house. The hostess was extremely friendly. I loved having a working fireplace in the room and the view to the river was really nice too. It's a short walk to the town centre area though I do think getting a couple of bikes to borrow would make it perfect.
Chrysties House was a beautiful base from which it explore Beacon. I stayed in the CJ Slocum room, it was heavenly. I loved all the interior details. I would come back in a heartbeat!
Chrystie House was cozy, warm, inviting and immaculate. We didnt even want to leave our room it was so comfortable. The bed and mattress was great, the house and grounds were very quiet and peaceful and it was just what we were looking for as a weekend getaway!
Our stay at the Chrystie was our first time staying in a Bed & Breakfast! We only stayed one night but enjoyed it very much. We were welcomed upon our arrival and felt how warm and cozy it felt. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed. The bed and sheets were INCREDIBLY comfortable, my partner and I slept great and we even took an extra nap. Breakfast was very nice and we were always taken care of upon any requests. I HIGHLY recommend you consider a stay here if youre ever in the area.
Couldnt have asked for better accommodations. The owners/hosts are brilliant, talented, loving and 100% committed to excellence. The room was beautiful, comfortable and with lovely wintertime view of the Hudson. The owner restored the 300 year old home to perfection, his stunning paintings are everywhere. He is eager to offer the history of his home and its connection to our founding fathers. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, we were served like royalty! Was able to walk from town. Price was so so reasonable! What an unexpected pleasure! This place is a true gem! Thank you to our hosts!
We had Lovely stay in Chrystiehouse! 25 minutes walk to train station, 15-20 minutes to the Main Street. Great
host! Beautifu historical l house surrounding with many huge oak trees. . The breakfast is delicious. We definitely want to go back again.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Original paintings everywhere, beautiful architecture, fortunately protected and restored. The most beautiful room we've ever stayed in, truly!
We had a lovely and wonderful stay here. We were in the CJ Slocum Room, and I was pleasantly surprise how comfortable the bed was, which resulted in an amazing sleeping experience for me. The owners of the places was extremely friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway this place is it. It has a great peaceful energy flow. Its lovely :)
We had a wonderful stay in the William Few Room. The room was incredible! The hosts were so welcoming and kind and even accommodated my partner's vegan diet :)
This was a feast for the senses. Sight: I stayed in the William Few Room, with its pleasing blue and white walls and gorgeous architectural details. Yuan's paintings, mostly portraits, are marvelous. Also, I saw and/or heard 24 bird species while on the grounds. Sound: The owners' young played beautiful classical piano for an hour in the early evening, and his talent is off the charts. His playing filled the house a really nice gentle vibe. Also, there's gorgeous mature trees on the property, which means lots of birdsong! And it was very quiet at night. Taste and Smell: Delicious breakfast of quiche, warm croissant, and fresh fruit and orange juice, and nice strong coffee. Lin is a delightful person, accommodating and interesting to talk with about all sorts of things. Touch: I loved the mattress, supportive and comfy. Chrystie House is filled with warmth and love, and creativity. And if you are a birdwatching/birding sort, at this location you are close to many excellent "hotspots" including Madam Brett Park and Long Dock Park.
Christy house is an amazing bed and breakfast. We stayed in William Fews room last week and everything was just perfect. We loved everything from the cozy room to the lovely hosts. Excellent service and the breakfast was great. The hosts are extremely talented we enjoy very much talking to them. Highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
We loved staying at Chrystie House for our weekend trip. The house is beautiful and the owners were so accommodating. Cant beat the authentic B&B experience!
Lynn and her family are incredibly kind and gracious hosts who made us feel at home! The property has lots of charm and history and is adorned with lovely artwork and a grand piano. Convenient private parking directly adjacent to the house. They served a healthy and flavorful breakfast in the morning. The house is close to all major points of interest in Beacon, a truly lovely play to stay!
My husband I have stayed at Chrystie house 4 times now. Every time is a treat! The location is great. It's close to the train and the downtown. The hosts are exceptional. Mr. Lee is an extremely talented artist. His artwork is all over the house and it is like being in a museum. Mrs. Lee is also so interesting and kind. We've stayed in almost all of the rooms and they are all wonderful. You can't go wrong. Breakfast is so good. It doesn't really vary, but it's delicious. The house is also really cool. The reviews don't lie. Treat yourself to a nice weekend.
Very nice place.
Top notch!
Great place to step away from the city. Close to the train and close to main street. We mostly took taxis but is also walkable (about 20 minutes which isnt terrible coming from nyc). The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were cozy, bathrooms clean, and the house beautiful. Totally recommend this place for a nice getaway.
A wonderful getaway! Our stay was pleasant. The hosts were friendly and helpful. It got hot during our stay so they quickly gave us a fan without asking. The breakfast was excellent. First time trying quiche, it was very appetizing, along with fruits in the morning, yum! The house is very beautiful. Right next to the river, we came at the perfect time were we can see a glimpse of the river, right before the greenery would block it all off. The location was perfect. Close to all the places we wanted to visit. I would definitely come back here for my next vacation away from the buzzling city woes.
Stayed in the Chrystie room. It was a nice relaxing getaway from the city, waking up to birds tweeting, a view of the trees and a gentle breeze coming in through the window. The hosts were lovely and accomodating and the breakfast was all delicious and homemade. Will be coming back.
Our time at the Chrystie house was great! It is definitely in suburbia but dont let that fool you. You can walk from/to Main Street, madame Brett park, bannerman house pickup, and dia beacon all from this place.
The rooms are older but the price just cannot be beat with the charm, great breakfast, and kind owners. :)
Would stay again!
Nestled away in Beacon in New Yorks lower Hudson Valley is Chriystie House., a wonderful multi- century bed-and breakfast, situated on acres of lush greenery.
Warmly received by owners Yuan Lee and his charming wife Lin you will instantly feel at home.
The home itself was originally built in the
18th century and miraculously, somehow moved from its original location by
two men two horses in two months to where it presently sits.
Furnished in beautiful antiques and amazing artwork painted by the owner himself, Yuan Lee, you will be overwhelmed by the enormity of his talent and sincerity and humbleness of the couple.
The two provide cozy accommodations,
friendly conversation and reasonable pricing.
Lin prepares home cooked breakfasts, beautifully served on the veranda or in the dining area, your choice.
Although not seeing all of the rooms, our room was wonderfully furnished with all the amenities and comforts of home, necessary for an enjoyable stay.
Chrystie house is situated very near Newburgh New York where waterfront restaurants flourish, Blu Point being one
and is within the town of Beacon and Beacon Falls accessible to Main Street in all its quaint town activities.
There is no shortage of things to do or if you choose you may simply relax.
My wife and I highly recommend
Chrystie House as your next destination and we give it high praise and five stars.
Masayo and William
We could not have been happier with our stay at Chrystie House Bed and Breakfast. We were lucky enough to be able to book the last available room in the house before the weekend and our stay there truly made our trip to Beacon. The location is great, the house is stunning, and the hosts are so kind and welcoming. I wish we could have been able to stay longer!
The Chrystie house is one of the best bed and breakfasts I have ever stayed in. First, the home is beautiful- set on top of a hill with deer walking on the grounds-and with lovely art inside and spacious rooms. The hosts gave a warm welcome and greeted me when I arrived with a tour of the grounds and then showed me my room. My room was super clean and had air conditioning and my own bathroom and shower. Some nice touches were a bath robe and lots of closet and storage space.Breakfast in the morning was outdoors on the patio and was a perfect way to start my day. The host cooked a delicious vegetarian quiche and also served fresh fruit and bread with my hot tea. There were other guests staying at the same time but it was always quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed staying at the Chrystie house and will do so again the next time Im in Beacon. I highly recommend this place!
Chrystie House is a great place to stay. It is so comfortable and peaceful there. My fianc and I really enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was amazing. We took a walk to the falls nearby and really enjoyed our weekend. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Beacon area.
Chrystie House was lovely and elegant, and has strong sense of history. Its very convenient being within walking distance of Beacons Main Street. We enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend!
A memorable stay at a memorable location managed by a memorable host.
I recently stayed at the charming Chrystie House Bed and Breakfast! The room was spacious, the hosts lovely and the breakfast of warmed croissants, fruit, and homemade quiche was delish! It sits on 4 acres of land so plenty space to sit and listen to nature. It was pleasant experience.
Book this place now!
I had a very pleasant stay at the Chrystie house. Everything about it was just amazing, from the bed to the breakfast. Lets start with the bed(room), we stayed at the William Few room and it was exactly like the pictures. The crown molding and decor had an old charm to it which made us feel like we just traveled into the past. Now to the breakfast, it was every bit delicious which consisted of fruit, croissants, bread, and a quiche in the end. I asked the owner about the breakfast as everything tasted fresh, and the answer was no surprise because the ingredients were organic and from the farmers market. And that quiche, it was all homemade, so of course it would taste good. The breakfast was enough to leave us full when we finally left the house to explore Beacon.
Then the house itself was beautifully decorated as the living room and dining room were decorated with furniture and art that were from that era. So you will get a nice mix of Asian and European furniture which made resting in the living room a treat. It was very inspiring as I hope to decorate my home in a similar fashion. And I was fearful that there would be no AC as it wouldn't be of that era, but they do have portable AC units so the summer heat wasn't an issue at the house.
This wont be the only time that I will stay there as I am already planning a future trip and will stay at the Chrystie house again.
Very friendly bed and breakfast! If you are looking to stay in the area you found the best place!
Lovely family, lovely space. I very much enjoyed my visit.
I wish I could rate Chrystie House more than 5 stars. Yuan really went above and beyond to restore this historic home and both Yuan and Lynn were so accommodating and welcoming. Our room was comfortable and clean and the free breakfast, piano music, and myriad of books were such amazing additions to our visit! My partner and I really enjoyed our stay and will absolutely be staying at Chrystie upon our return to Beacon.
Highly recommend, and would stay again! Our stay at Chrystie House was lovely and very comfortable. The food (especially the homemade quiche!) was delicious and the hosts were kind and considerate. It is very conveniently located close to downtown, Mt Beacon, and Dia Beacon. All in all a great fall weekend trip!
Summary of the review: you HAVE to visit the Chrystie House if you are traveling to or live in the Hudson Valley area.
Upon arrival, you are greeted by the gorgeous landscaping that has been meticulously maintained by the owners. They are so kind and accomodating and are sure to greet you with smiles.
The entrance to the property is a gorgeous porch to sit on and take in the surrounding scenery. just inside the door is a gorgeous sitting room and grand library that could entertain for days! You can feel within a moment of stepping through the front door that this house has been restored perfectly and it feels as though you are stepping back through time with it.
The rooms are a perfect size (I have stayed in both the CJ Slocum room and the Albert Chrystie room) with extremely comfortable beds, wonderful bathrooms, and amazing detail that keep the classical theme consistent throughout.
Do not worry if you visit in warmer months as there are fans and portable AC units provided to keep the rooms at a perfect temperature.
Of course, half of Bed and Breakfast is the breakfast and this is really where the Chrystie House SHINES! We were treated to a delicious 3-course meal that exceeded all expectations!
I am a very picky traveler and Chrystie house definitely is one of my favorite places!
Our stay at the elegant, well appointed, very comfortable Christie House made the trip to Beacon, NY very special! The full breakfasts were generous and delicious. The common areas were just beautiful. Our hosts were most welcoming. Its proximity facilitated visits to museums, and the quaint town. We were even able to invite our family to join us for breakfast one morning! I highly recommend it. We will definitely be staying there again.
Chrystie House was cozy, warm, inviting and immaculate. We didnt even want to leave our room it was so comfortable. The bed and mattress was great, the house and grounds were very quiet and peaceful and it was just what we were looking for as a weekend getaway!
Chrysties House was a beautiful base from which it explore Beacon. I stayed in the CJ Slocum room, it was heavenly. I loved all the interior details. I would come back in a heartbeat!
Had a nice experience in this beautiful, classic American house. The hostess was extremely friendly. I loved having a working fireplace in the room and the view to the river was really nice too. It's a short walk to the town centre area though I do think getting a couple of bikes to borrow would make it perfect.

Very lovely and cozy place to stay. This is a historical house with awesome art decor. The hosts are very friendly and the breakfast is delicious! The location is also nice, quiet and not far from the riverside trails. Will come back if visiting Beacon again.
Chrystie house is a peaceful retreat with rich history, wonderful accommodations, and a warm service. It even included a beautiful breakfast. I will definitely stay here again.
We had a fantastic stay at Chrystie House! The property itself is gorgeous and the house was very comfortable and charming. The breakfast is also incredibly delicious! We were thrilled to have homemade croissants, quiches, and fresh fruit every morning of our stay. Well definitely come back!
Beautiful comfortable house and friendly helpful service. Incredible artwork by owner artist. Delicious homemade breakfasts. Quiet serene setting. Had very relaxing stay.
Came to beacon for a wedding and stayed at the Chrystie House. Hosts were very pleasant and informative. Yuan has a very in depth knowledge of the house as well as general knowledge of history. It was a pleasure to converse with him. Location is very convenient to Main Street and other tourist sites.
We had an amazing stay here at the Chrystie House. Great people, food and accomodation!!
Very clean spacious room decorated with owners museum quality art.
Very nice couple who owns it lovely breakfast outdoors deck made with local organic fruits and veggies.
Enjoyable experience!!
Really great for a weekend getaway from the city, or wherever youre from. The proprietors live on premise and are very sweet. Id highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Beacon.
Wonderful Bnb. Be sure to talk to Mr. Lee, he's a great historian of the area and all the paintings in the house were done by him. Can't wait to go back!
The Chrystie House is a beautiful historic home, turned into a bed and breakfast. The owner is very nice, very knowledgeable, and accommodated our very late arrival on check-in. We stayed in the Sargent Room, with a bed so comfortable that my girlfriend was out cold within 10 minutes. The breakfast portion the next morning was continental and consisted of fresh sliced fruit salad, scones, croissants, and coffee. The only complaint I have is with the shower height. At 6'4", I had to duck for full access to the shower head. We cannot wait to stay here again!
Beautiful rooms, great location, spacious grounds, and breath-taking views; the charm of the Chrystie House is matched only by the kindness of its hosts. My room was clean, large, the bed extremely comfortable. The bathroom was well lit with a high pressure waterfall shower- loved it. I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts, and I don't recall ever being so thoroughly impressed!
Equally impressive was the quality of the breakfast. My friend agreed it rivaled any Manhattan brunch: Quiche, fresh scones, fruit, croissants.
Also worth mentioning, the Chrystie House is walking distance to Main Street, where one may spend the day (over) indulging on baked goods, several restaurants, pubs, and live music.
Great historic property owned and run by the kind and knowledgeable Mr Lee. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Sargent room.
Beautiful grounds and room. Great breakfast (including some awesome scones). The owners are really nice and they have great artwork all over the place. Bed was slightly creaky, but that's a minor complaint. Definitely would stay here again.
We had a very enjoyable stay. The owner, who is an early American history and architecture buff and an artist, has put in great effort in restoring this historic building. The rooms we had are large, beautifully appointed and great attention has been paid to even small details, but you never get a "don't touch feeling". There are also all the modern amenities and everything seems to work well. Most importantly the owner is friendly and gracious, yet also gives you privacy. The breakfasts are also very good.
The proprietors of this lovely old colonial b and b are extremely friendly. They were excellent hosts. The home is a pre-revolution building with high ceilings and ample space. The area surrounding this b&b is beautiful, with great hiking and plenty of restaurants. Rooms were reasonably priced and I highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
Chrystie House has been meticulously and artfully restored. Its proprietors are charming and welcoming hosts. They enthusiastically share their knowledge of history and the area and serve a yummy breakfast to boot! Chrystie House is a treasure. We will definitely return!
By far the best bed and breakfast i've had the pleasure of staying in! The room is very well priced for what you're getting. This is no run-of-the-mill airbnb (because you actually Get breakfast!) or some shanty motel-like bed and breakfast. Large decadent room, comfortable mattress, amazing bathtub for a soak, big glass windows in all the rooms offering plenty of sunlight. Immaculate and clean. The house is also decorated with exquisite original artwork from the host himself (who, by the way, everyone should have the pleasure of conversing with. Him and his beautiful wife are generous, kind, and do whatever they can to make sure your stay is as pleasant as can be). Surrounded by trees and a Great spot to nature-watch (stayed only 2 nights and saw: rabbits, chipmunks, deers, woodpeckers, and big-ass eagles) the house gives one the feeling of being nestled away but is actually walking distance to all attractions: Main Street, DIA:Beacon, short nature walk along the water or even a long nature hike up to Mt. Beacon. Not to mention walking distance from the train station! If you have a lot of a luggage, its a cheap $6 cab ride from the station to the house. 10 out of 10 recommend. Thanks for the amazing time!
Love this place, beautiful rooms, and great hospitality. Beacon center is also a great time.
We had a lovely stay at Chrystie house. The grounds are beautiful, the room was spacious and stylish, and the hosts were lovely and served a delicious breakfast. Wed love to come back some time.
My friend and I had a wonderful time at the Chrystie house. The host are very friendly and hospitable. The house is very different than the ones I stayed before, the most artistic, historical Ive ever experienced. Honestly, I feel very lucky that we had a memorable talk with Mr Lee and his wife too. They are very knowledgable, sharing a lot of interesting stories with us - I felt so more inspired by staying at this historical place, not just a place to stay for night. In general, I was very happy with all the details, from breakfast, clean tables, beautiful morning view to the rooms we stayed. Very good price and fantastic experience.
The rooms were beautiful, neat ,clean and decorated with impeccable pieces of art created by Mr Lee.We will definitely return again and highly recommend the Christie house B&B.
enlightenwd

The Chrystie House is by far the place to stay if you’re coming to Beacon for the weekend. You will be comfortable, well fed, and surrounded by beautiful art and history. We absolutely loved it here and can’t wait to come back!

I had a great stay for 3 nights last month. Lovely historic house, nice comfortable room and enjoyable breakfast. The hosts were also very friendly and helpful. Andrew
I stayed at Chrystie House earlier this October and had a restful and peaceful time. Yuan and Yuling's hospitality and kindness made Chrystie House a welcome respite from New York City! The room was lovely, quiet and cozy, and the breakfast was delicious. Yuan and Yuling are wonderful hosts - Yuling even drove me and my sister to the train! I am so grateful for their generosity and for the peace of mind the stay gave me. I would highly recommend to anyone staying in Beacon!

I stayed at the Chrystie House for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I wanted to stay in a quiet place and found it here.
The inn is about a mile walk from the center of town and from the train station. Having a car would be easier, but it's perfectly do-able on foot.
The proprietors couldn't have been nicer, the breakfasts were delicious, and the B&B was impeccably clean.
It was truly a delight staying there.

My boyfriend and I wanted an easy, fun, yet special-feeling holiday home base--and we found that in Chrystie House. It was historic, clean and lovely. We stayed in the William Few room which we would happily stay in again. Excellent nights sleep. Our hosts were charming yet unobtrusive. Breakfast was perfect, the weather was nice so it was served on the patio, which was a happy memory I'll go back to when the city feels hectic. It's close enough for a hearty walk (or cheap car) to Main Street. Can't recommend enough, what a delightful gem!
If you're planning on traveling to Beacon, NY for the weekend and want to be a bit out of the way, you GOTTA stay here. First off, it is a wonderful escape town for most Manhattanites (and Brooklynites, obviously - can't forget you folks)
One of my favorite places to either:
1.) Escape NYC
2.) Watch trains
3.) Watch people taking themselves way too seriously or see minimalist art at the DIA:Beacon
or
4.) Go hiking, eat-out at any one of the plethora of restaurants.
As far as B&B's go, The Chystie House was somewhat off-putting at first but as we became more familiar with our surroundings, there were no worries. The house almost seemed like a work-in-progress rather than a completed project.
However, Yuan Lee and his wife have done an immaculate job with restoring this home and making it welcoming to guests. We had a wonderful weekend here last fall with my folks, who drove in from Connecticut. When we arrived, we were greeted at the entrance and shown the guest rooms, living room and common space (complete with incredible book selection and a Grand Piano.) Yuan and his wife gave us a run-down of all the particulars including breakfast time, noise levels house rules etc. Yuan is a very knowledgeable person and easy to get into long conversations with about the world. Also he did most of the paintings in the house and you can tell he put a lot of work into it all.
The Chrystie House is not on the main drag - which is a good thing - so plan on cabbing it from the train station or renting a car. You'll be glad you did.
Had a great 4th of July stay at Chrystie House. The owners are friendly and attentive and knowledgeable. The house itself is cozy with eclectic decor - perfect for one night or a long weekend. About a 15-20 min walk to the Main St and a very quick car ride. Situated in a very quiet and tranquil area with gardens in the back. Great getaway from the noise and hustle of NYC.
Highly recommended! Chrystie House is an immaculately maintained 18th century home on a large, serene property. Only minutes from Beacon's Main Street and countless hikes and views, this B and B is clean, welcoming, and filled with beautiful decor and furniture. The hosts are kind and thoughtful, everything was taken care of.

Spent last weekend here with my Father, everything was beautiful. This house is truly a one of a kind gem. Everything is historical and preserved beao. A perfect weekend getaway from NYC.
Highly recommend!!
We had a lovely stay at Chrystie House. The rooms are nicely decorated and our room even had a full library of books, including many titles on art and history. The bathroom had hand-painted tiles from Spain and was unlike any other b&b we’ve stayed. They even accommodated our vegan diet and prepared an amazing homemade Chinese meal for us. It’s very close to the Main Street but feels secluded and like a nice retreat from city life. The hosts are very personable and keep a beautiful home. The property also serves as a gallery for the owner’s paintings, which are really stunning. Overall, just such a nice place to getaway and relax.
This was my first time staying at a B&B and I had a great experience at Chrystie House. The house is gorgeous and it's on a beautiful property. We were greeted by Mr. Yuan who as warm and welcoming. Both him and his wife were super sweet and made sure our stay there was as comfortable as possible. The house is quiet, relaxing and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the Henry Winthrop Sargent room which was beautiful, clean and nicely decorated. The house was easily accessible and close to everything. 5 min. drive to Main St. and 3 min. drive to Dia: Beacon. I can't emphasize enough how nice Mr. Yuan and his wife were. Oh, delicious breakfast. I can't recommend this place highly enough and if I go back to Beacon, I'll definitely stay here again.
Beautiful house owned by a nice couple!
We arrived at Chrystie House on a rainy afternoon and were greeted by Juan Lee who has carefully restored this charming and elegant historic home. Juan showed us to our rooms, which were appointed with beautiful antique furnishings and painted to highlight the impressive historic plaster and woodwork. The bathrooms feature meticulously renovated historic fixtures with great water pressure and delightful heating systems. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast beautifully served and delicious. We enjoyed great conversation with our hosts too! I highly recommend a stay at Juan Lee's elegant and delightful Chrystie House. We had wonderful visits to DIA Beacon and Storm King Sculpture Park while in Beacon. A perfect Fall weekend.
Not for everyone, but we’d give it six stars if we could. Hospitality and history in abundance. The owners are true American heroes for their work in restoring this hidden gem of a house - Beacon is lucky to have them.
My friend and I had a wonderful time at the Chrystie house. The host are very friendly and hospitable. The house is very different than the ones I stayed before, the most artistic, historical I've ever experienced.
We had a lovely stay at Chrystie house. The grounds are beautiful, the room was spacious and stylish, and the hosts were lovely and served a delicious breakfast. We’d love to come back some time.
Love this place, beautiful rooms, and great hospitality. Beacon center is also a great time.
Very welcoming and sweet hosts. Beautiful house full of books and stories. The rooms are clean, quiet, functional and nicely decorated. Small bathroom with an enjoyable bathtub and all the amenities. The breakfast is very tasty and copious, with coffee or tea, scones, croissants, quiche and fruit juice. Easily accessible and close to hiking trails and main street.
So adorable. We came to Beacon to hike and have a low-key birthday weekend. We were late leaving Manhattan and they were very accommodating upon our (very late) arrival. We stayed in the William Few room which is quite spacious and decorated beautifully. They definitely don't skimp on breakfast! Each morning there was a bowl of fruit, pastries and a generous helping of quiche. The first day we had a spinach, leek and feta (I think) quiche which was SO yummy. We were quite grateful for our large breakfast as we spent 5 hours wandering around Mt. Beacon. Would totally recommend.
Chrystie House has been meticulously and artfully restored. Its proprietors are charming and welcoming hosts. They enthusiastically share their knowledge of history and the area and serve a yummy breakfast to boot! Chrystie House is a treasure. We will definitely return!
I stayed in the Chrystie House with Yuan and Yu last year in November. It was my first experience staying in a proper Bed & Breakfast, and I could not have asked for a better first impression & holiday. Writing this review a couple months later, I think I'd be very lucky to find another house that is as pleasant as the Chrystie. Also, I try to avoid hotel franchises as often as I can.
The owners Yu & Yuan are incredibly kind and mindful hosts. They're happy to give you your own privacy and attend to any of your practical needs and comforts. The private bedroom was sizable and clean for two guests, with cable TV & internet included of course. The house itself is beautiful, a relic of early American settlers filled with rich history that Yuan is infinitely knowledgeable about. He's had a prodigious career in the art industry and intersected with
giants in the art world. The first evening we returned from dinner and talked long into the night about engaging and intimate topics.
Chrystie house and its warm caretakers deliver a wonderful stay for guests. I thank them for being the most lovely hosts.
My wife and I had an excellent time staying at the Chrystie House! Yuan Lee and his wife are superb hosts and they are very accommodating, nice and extremely knowledgeable in history, art and philosophy.
There is so much history with this place. The house is beautifully restored with a nice garden. The room is clean. The bed is luxurious and comfy.
Breakfast is delicious and satisfying!
Not only did we enjoy the physical aspects of Beacon with the hike to Mount Beacon and Dia: Beacon museum, we felt so enriched from our conversations with Yuan and his wife on Chinese history/culture, his art pieces, etc.
We'll be back again in the future.
I recommend the Chrystie House the place to stay if you are ever planning a visit to Beacon.
This was my boyfriend and my second time staying at the Chrystie House. We've stayed in the William Few room both times. Mr. Lee's careful attention to detail makes the stay very rewarding. He's knowledgeable about the area and friendly to talk to. The fact that Mr. Lee is also an artist makes the bed and breakfast a singular destination, with his paintings all around. I believe he also restored the home when he first bought it. The breakfast is also great; he has it catered by Homespun.
The house is about a 15-20 minute walk from the train station, Dia Beacon, and Main Street. We've never come with a car, and we've never had a problem. We usually call a cab if we want to go out to dinner that night, but otherwise we just enjoy walking around and being outside of New York City.
Beautiful grounds and room. Great breakfast (including some awesome scones). The owners are really nice and they have great artwork all over the place. Bed was slightly creaky, but that's a minor complaint. Definitely would stay here again.
Hudson Valley and bed & breakfasts are inextricably linked experiences for me. So while I weigh the pros and cons of booking hotels vs apartments/homes for various getaways and traveling companions, it never occurred to me to look at anything other than a B&B for a first visit to Beacon, NY.
Among the B&Bs in this rapidly changing town is the Chrystie House, a short drive from both Beacon Station and the town Main Street, walkable even, in under 30 minutes. This stately house was the colonial era home of William Few, one of the country's founding fathers, who lived the end of his life here. It is now home to an artist and his family, Yuan Lee, who lovingly restored it (and who is ever in the process of maintaining and further restoring). A friendly and gregarious man, it doesn't take much asking to find that Yuan not only has an artist's eye for detail, he is also a history enthusiast who knows much about the area, the house, its architecture, and the materials and craftsmanship used to build it then.
History lends each of the four suites their names, and each name is a person linked to the house, most as prior owners, one a famed landscaper responsible for work on the grounds in the past, of which some remains to this day. The four, all located on the second level, comprise the inn's available rooms. This makes the Chrystie House's capacity small, even by the standards of B&Bs, but quality and understated elegance elevates these rooms well above average. Beyond that, it turns out that Yuan painted just about every painting that hangs in the house. Their styles and subjects are versatile; I would not have guessed they were the work of a single artist. Viewing these in the rooms and common areas is worthwhile.
The William Few suite (and former room of its namesake) is a beautiful, marina-themed room with vibrant paintings of sailing vessels, and an original hand-carved black marble fireplace mantel. The bed is very comfortable. Equipped with TV (unnecessary to me but perhaps a bonus or necessity to others) and electric hot water heater. The bathroom design is utilitarian but the space is roomy, the water pressure strong. The sink design appears old, and the stopper function is fascinating and fits the marina theme. The anteroom has plenty of storage space, more useful for longer stays.
Breakfast, served in the bright dining room from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM, is very good. Fresh fruit, a fantastic croissant and scone (from a local restaurant), and a delicious, well-made quiche, with orange juice and coffee, ensured I left quite full and satisfied.
The Chrystie House is a lovely B&B. The quality of the rooms are among the best I've stayed at in the Hudson Valley. The warmth and hospitality of Yuan and his wife are exceptional. And for anyone with a strong interest in art or colonial architecture, it is a bonus to have personal (and knowledgeable) access to those through a stay here.
My husband and I stayed for a weekend,,,,it was lovely. The host was very knowledgeable about the house and the area. The breakfast was delicious and of a large portion (important for my husband). Unfortunately, I had ruined a towel with my new hair color. The host was so gracious as he took the towel to be washed and reassured me that, "this has happened before." As far as the bugs go...we only saw one stink bug, that frankly, peaked our interest as we do not see many in Manhattan. May I remind you that you are in a wooded area, after all...nature has to be experienced while dirtying your hiking boots purchased at Barney's. LOL
We just finished a family reunion weekend here, and I have to say, this place was an absolute delight. We're very much considering making a tradition of staying here for future reunions. The house itself is lovely - you can tell that a lot of love and hard work has gone into its restoration, and it's paid off in spades. The owner is an artist as well and the interior is absolutely covered in paintings, vases, porcelain works, sculptures and other art of all sorts, making for a wonderful atmosphere.
Speaking of the owner, he and his family were an absolute delight - friendly and very attentive, and always willing to talk about the house, the town and his art. They were very good with special diets as well, which is something we needed between myself (a strict vegetarian) and my aunt who has a great many allergies. The breakfast itself was amazing, too - the yard is large and gorgeous, with lovely weather on summer mornings, and we ate on the patio watching deer and nature. I'm told that in the autumn and winter there's also a gorgeous view of the river, though sadly the thick tree canopies blocked it in the summer. Even so, the atmosphere was excellent. I rarely enjoy eating outside, but this time I did.
I also loved the food - there was orange juice, tea, coffee, fruit salad, fresh-made croissants and scones (with different flavors on different mornings!), and quiches for those who can have eggs and cheese, plus an entirely custom meal for my aunt with allergies.
And yes, Virginia, there is wifi! Though I didn't wind up taking advantage of it much with all there was to do, and I'm notoriously glued to my computer and phone. The raindrop showers were lovely, too!
To address some of the complaints I've seen - this is a lushly forested riverside area. Bugs like it here, and there were plenty outside. Despite that, however, I don't think I actually saw a single one inside - and I'm quite attentive to that sort of thing. The air conditioning could be a little stronger - it's lovely in the mornings and at night, though, and we were out checking out Beacon's numerous attractions the rest of the time. I expect there would have been no issue at all were it not 90 degrees, humid and sunny. The door latches could jam a little bit on the one bathroom, but there were otherwise no issues. The host was very friendly and welcoming, and I have no idea how anyone could disagree. And above all, remember - with historical houses come historical problems. The host has done an incredible overhaul, and is doing more yet, meaning this place just keeps getting better. As it stands, I was already more than satisfied, and I think you will be too!
It was altogether very homey, and I'm very sad to be leaving. I definitely hope to be back next reunion!
I wanted to have a quick getaway from NYC to relax, and my stay at Chrystie House was exactly what I was looking for.
The owner was very nice and caring, and answered all my questions about the area (this was my first time visiting Beacon), yet left me with enough private space to relax.
I stayed in CJ Slocum Room. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower (rain shower!) was very relaxing and surrounded by beautiful tiles.
Breakfast was delicious and gave me enough energy to walk around in Dia Beacon later that morning.
The B&B has a feeling of secluded vacation house surrounded by trees, yet walking distance to Main St., Dia Beacon and Metro North train station, all 15-20+ minute walk. I recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes. If walking is not your thing, a taxi ride anywhere in Beacon is just $6!
I am looking forward to going back to Chrystie House on my next getaway trip!
Great historic property owned and run by the kind and knowledgeable Mr Lee. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Sargent room.
Like this well maintained historical gem, its knowledgeable host, tasty breakfast and of course, the old fashion bathroom!
Definitely would love to go back!
My mol and i were looking for a place to relax and Connect each other, I searched for a bed and breakfast place cause I didn't want to stay in a hotel, then I saw this place, such a beautiful house on a hill surrounded with beautiful trees and nature that's all I wanted, the family is amazingly nice and sweet! Breakfast was delicious everyday! And the owner really attentive, then rooms are so pretty really clean and I like the fact that they have bathrooms inside of the room, my mom was so happy and we got to relax and have fun! I definitely will come back soon!
My husband and I loved our visit to Chrystie House Bed and Breakfast: our room had all the amenities of a fine hotel. The Chrystie House is a beautifully maintained historical gem.The very large first floor parlor and dining room of this elegant mansion are beautifully furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs, art and books. The proprietor/host is an expert on the history of the Hudson Valley and this historical House and this greatly enriched our visit--especially with the current interest in Alexander Hamilton. The morning shaded patio for breakfast provided a beautiful view of the extension grounds and trees. As mentioned by others--breakfast foods and coffee were top quality. Wi-fi worked perfectly and we felt very secure. Air conditioning worked well in our room and in the house on an exceptionally hot July weekend. We stayed in the large, very comfortable CJ Slocum room which had an amazing large bathroom--both modern convenience and 1820s Spanish tile.
Stayed at this gem in November 2014. Upon arrival the Innkeeper met us at the car and helped us carry the bags in. (We called ahead to advise we would be arriving past 9pm, as the website requests…was surprised to find out it was the owner himself who answers the phone…With no hint of annoyance, he simply asked that we call when we arrive so that he could help us in). We were showed around the house when we got there and were advised that the house was locked up at midnight. Since we hadn't eaten dinner yet, we made separate accommodations with him for us to get back past midnight. (For dinner….check out The Hop in Beacon, or the Mill House Brewing Co. in Poughkeepsie…totally worth the drive) The rooms are beautifully decorated. Every piece of artwork in the house was done by the owner. Not sure about the other rooms, but our bathtub was supplied with water through a ONE INCH PIPE (you did not read that wrong…most houses are fed by 1/2 inch). Needless to say, the water pressure wasn't an issue. The house was very quiet, as is the surrounding area. The breakfast in the morning was served by the owner himself. His wife was in the kitchen preparing as well. Coffee was delicious, breakfast was served with fresh fruit, croissants, scones and OJ every day…and for the mornings we were there, Quiche was the main dish. Upon arrival the owner did ask if there were any dietary restrictions he should know about, and since my BF eats gluten and dairy free, prepared an "off menu" ham and eggs for him. This small but impressive establishment goes to every detail to make sure your stay is exactly right. In an era when these types of B&B can take patronage for granted, the Chrystie House exceeds all expectations, making you feel at home at every opportunity. • • • Stayed at this gem in November 2014. Wonderful Bnb. Be sure to talk to Mr. Lee, he's a great historian of the area and all the paintings in the house were done by him. Can't wait to go back!
I was surprising my girlfriend with the BB for her birthday. It was qakfast. Our trips usually consist of locking in a boutique hotel somewhere, but I thought we'd try something different this time considering it was somewhat of a spontaneous weekend trip and there aren't many boutique hotels in Beacon if any at all. This left her without any opportunity to provide input into the lodging decision, so I was just crossing my fingers that I lucked out with this host and the room (all the other rooms were already booked).
Lee, the owner was great, hospitable, and accommodating. He actually allowed us to stay for one evening as opposed to the 2-night minimum.due to being there during their off-peak season. My girlfriend appreciates history, so he was sure to give us a guided tour of the property and let us in on a few cool facts about Beacon and the house itself.
We had the CJ Slocum Room. Its the one with a desk, which allowed me to wind down with some writing on my laptop in the evening. I know, I know "how can I fix myself to bring a computer, let alone do work in Beacon?" Trust me, I'm in the media industry and in no way did it feel like work. A log in our room's fireplace and the river illuminated in the distance, really left me speechless and inspired. The only sour taste was me not telling the owner it was my gf's birthday when I made the reservation...he said he usually arranges to have a cake delivered from a local favorite bakery. I'm looking forward to going back.
We had an absolutely flawless stay at Chrystie House. Yuan was an amazing host, the room was spectacular, and the breakfast was delicious. I can't wait to go back!
Great place for a quick getaway. The rooms were comfortable, elegant and filled with beautiful eclectic mixture of art pieces. We had a wonderful time chatting with the owner over tea, who made us felt really welcome. Maybe it was the quietness which is so unlike the city, that it took me some time to fall asleep. But my dear husband had no problem at all, after taking a nice bath he was asleep in seconds.
We traveled to Beacon by Metro-North train from New York. Even though the B&B's location is secluded, it is a walkable distance to-from most important places around Beacon if you are not traveling by car. About 20 min walk from the Beacon station, 20 min to Main street and 15 min to Madam Brett Park hiking trail. Highly recommended!!
Great B&B. Well appointed, well maintained rooms with artwork in all of the rooms and common areas. Very chatty, helpful proprietor, Yuen who tried his hardest to ensure that my fussy boyfriend was accommodated at breakfast. Highly recommended
